1-Bedroom Retreat at The Historic Farr House
Built in 1904 by Dr. Mary Noyes-Farr and her husband, Civil War Colonel Edward P. Farr, this elegant Georgian Revival style home offers a unique, inspiring and refreshing lodging experience for your visit to the South Dakota state capitol. Join my husband, mom, friend and me in reveling in the beauty and comfort of this home. We're happy to share an afternoon tea with you or to give you space to work, relax and rest. Enjoy the cozy feeling of home in a second floor private room with a queen bed complete with luxury spa-quality linens, private bathroom, tv and spacious closet. Bring history to life by exploring the various community spaces in and outside the home. As long as we aren't hosting a book club or group meeting, our first floor library office, lounge, dining room, living room and porch are yours to explore. In the summer, the side yard has a table and chairs. If we're home, we'll greet you upon arrival, or you can let yourself in with the provided code. Your room has a key and would only be accessed during your stay in the case of an emergency. Free parking is available on the street or in a designated spot in our driveway. We are happy to meet guests' desires regarding interaction. We can sit down for tea together or guests can opt to only interact if needed. The Pierre Hill Historic District is quiet and centrally located, but is just blocks from the South Dakota State Capitol and various food and drink establishments. Pierre has limited public transportation, but if you won't have a car while you're in town let us know and we can assist you in securing transportation. We love playing games, so if you're interested in borrowing or learning a new game (like Ticket to Ride or Settlers of Catan) let us know!
