Description

Our Scandinavian looking house has a very cosy country feel. It is situated in the Westfjörds of Iceland-which is like no other place you have visited it is untouched and breathtakingly beautiful. The space The house is in a little town in the West Fords of Iceland called Patreksfjörður. Time magazine compiled a list of the 24 world‘s best-kept secrets in travelling, of course the Westfjords of Iceland reach that list. About our house- Our house/Cottage is a two story three bedroom Icelandic style house in the West Fjords of Iceland. In a small fishing town called Patreksfjördur. On the first floor is the kitchen, living room, bathroom and the first bedroom which has a double bed. Upstairs is bedroom number two which has two single beds. (You could push the single beds together to make another double bed if needed). Bedroom number three has a double bed, a single bed and a baby's cot. In the living room there is a sofa, a television, a DVD and video player, there is Free Wi-FI in the house for browsing and checking emails which is included in the price. The separate kitchen has elements with oven, microwave and a fridge. The Bathroom has a sink, toilet, bath with shower in it. About the area... In Patreksfjörður there is a fantastic geothermal swimming pool with breath-taking views of the mountains and the beautiful fjord, There is also a gym at the swimming pool complex with all modern and new equipment. In town there is a supermarket, convenience store ,a bank, camp-site, two restaurants, two cafe´s and a petrol station, a hospital, police station and the town hall. There is a 9 hole golf course in beautiful surroundings is just outside of the town. The nearest airport is in Bildudalur and you can get a transfer from the airport to Patreksfjörður. . Things to see around Patró- (Patreksfjördur) . Látrabjarg-The cliffs of all cliffs, is home to birds in unfathomable numbers. The Cliffs are the westernmost point of Iceland and Europe. One of the most visited tourist attraction in the West-fjords and are home to millions of birds, including puffins, northern gannets, guillemots and razorbills. It is Europe's largest bird cliff, 14 km long and up to 440m high. The cliffs are easily accessible by car and when you’re there, a walk along the cliffs awaits. . Rauðasandur or (Red Sand), is precisely that: a beach with red sand. Endless red sand. Well, not endless, but 10 km is a lot. The magnificent hues of the sand differ with daylight and weather, and the beach is the biggest pearl in a string of coves with sand ranging in colours from white through yellow through red to black, and in coarseness from very fine to sole-hurting chips of seashells. Large seals, both grey and common, play with their young’s on the beach. It is a wonderful place to fill your soul and camera with memories. . The Heritage Museum at Hnjótur, where you'll be able to see how the Icelandic nation lived through the ages. . Beached ship Garðar BA 64, which is located at the end of the fjord-you can stop and see it on your way to Látrabjarg cliffs or Rauðasandur(Red sands beach )- Garðar BA64 is the oldest steel ship in Iceland. . The beautiful Dynjandi waterfall that is located in Arnarfjörður in the Westfjords region of Iceland. It is the largest waterfall in the Westfjords and has a total height of 100 metres. . Natural Hot Springs in Iceland hot water springs from the earth. This pure energy is used for fish farming and heating the swimming pools. Bonuses to this geothermal activity are natural hot pools located around Iceland. . Sailing tours are the perfect way of relaxing after a great day. The nearby Sauðlauksdalur lake which is on the other side of the fjord just a short drive away is ideal for trout fishing. . Wild blue and black berry picking is very popular in late August/September and there are berries everywhere in the west-fjords. . . Tours around the area- There is an information centre in Patreksfjordur where you can pick up some brochure´s ,hire cars, book guided bus tours, super jeep tours, hiking tours, bicycle tours, panoramic boat trips, sea angling tours and bike rental.
