That makes it also ideal for an active holiday in nature, as it is only minutes away from beautiful hiking trails, mountain bike trails and a golf course. You can walk from the village into the forest. In the mild evenings, enjoy a meal in the garden. Restore from the heat of the day. The water fun at nearby Lake Balaton (45 min), a walk in the woods, or a day trip to Vienna, Budapest, or Bratislava. It was recently fully restored and is worth a visit. As well as the abbey's internationally renowned arboretum - The Bakony museum in Zirc, small and charming and much appreciated by children - From Zirc to Gyor, an old tourist train travels through the beautiful Cuha valley to Gyor. On the way, you pass the archabbey of Pannonhalma - The Arch Abbey of Pannonhalma is the oldest abbey in Hungary and has been making wine since 996 and still produces wines that are among the best in Hungary. You can visit the abbey with its beautiful library or visit the wine cellars and taste wine. EPLÉNY, 12 KM - Ski tracks where you can ski in winter and in summer take the lift up to hike down or mountain bike down the trails. VESZPRÉM 30 KM. - Visit the historic centre of Veszprém with Queen Gizella's castle. - Or take a look at the Veszprém zoo - Don't forget to eat at one of the nice restaurants in Veszprém. The best is Gusto, slightly more expensive, but still pretty cheap by Dutch standards. LAKE BALATON 40 KM - Visit the best resort along the shores of Lake Balaton, Balatonfured, go swimming or have lunch on one of the many terraces. - Drive around in tanks and armoured vehicles - paintball OTHER THINGS - Visit several wine regions, the closest being Pannonhalma, Somló, Lake Ballaton and Mór.
