Hartington village cottage with 2 parking spaces!
Description
Hawthorne Cottage is a lovely recently refurbished limestone cottage in the glorious Derbyshire Peak District just steps away from Hartington village centre and its 2 friendly pubs, a perfect place for a relaxing break or for the more energetic there’s great walks (dogs welcome!) and cycling trails on the doorstep. We have the great advantage of 2 PARKING SPACES and a lock up for cycles. The terraced gardens afford views over the village and surrounding hills beyond. The space Our cottage, built in the 1860s of local limestone has 2 bedrooms, cosy lounge with exposed beams and a log burner for those chilly evenings. It has 2 comfortable leather sofas, a well stocked bookcase and tv showing freeview channels with a Chromecast to enable programmes broadcast on Netflix and Amazon Prime direct to the tv. The kitchen with breakfast bar is very well equipped with everything you need during your stay including tea, sugar, cafetière coffee and basic store cupboard items. The laundry room off the kitchen contains a full size washing machine, ironing board, and a clothes airer. The two bedrooms and bathroom are on the first floor. The large conservatory/garden room is perfect for relaxed dining, and is accessed from this level, leading through to the private patio where you will find comfortable outdoor seating to take in the views on those sunny days. Responsible pet owners please note gardens not fenced off from the road but patio is gated. The patio area can also be accessed by steps up through the garden from the driveway. The Garden The lovely terraced garden has been transformed over the last 4 years from a wilderness of weeds and brambles to create two quiet areas, one surrounding a small pond, on different levels, perfect for sitting with a glass of wine enjoying the views, or reading a book. Paths have been relaid, steps created, and experience has been gained in repairing and enhancing some of the stone walls. The next project will be to improve the orchard at the top of the garden, with a tree planting schedule, and the creation of an elevated sitting area. At present this area is inaccessible to guests, until the project is completed. Watch this space! Children !! Please note that because the paths and steps are steep in places it is not suitable for children under 8 years. Please ask for further information. Guest access Getting around. - Our cottage is perfectly located within 2 minutes walk to the duck pond in the village centre. There are many walks from right outside our door, check out some of the options in our information folder . You can bring your own bike and store in the lockable garage. Bike hire available on the Tissington trail either at Ashbourne or Parsley Hay. There is a bus service from the village, High Peak number 442 from Ashbourne to Buxton via Hartington every one to two hours daily depending on the season. Check on High Peak buses online. Village parking is very busy in the square, there is a car park nearby but can be expensive if left for over 2 hours. No worries if you are staying with us, we are lucky to have 2 spaces in front of the garage, you could stay parked up for the duration of your holiday if you wanted to be car free!! Other things to note Keith's property will be hosted by Sheena, Keith's partner. Dogs are welcome at a charge of £20 per dog. This can be left at the cottage on departure. Please do not allow your dog on the furniture or in the bedrooms. Thank You
