House located in La Martella, a village in Matera surrounded by greenery. Known for a famous urban intervention that involved Adriano Olivetti and a large group of architects and intellectuals (Federico Gorio, Michele Valori, Ludovico Quaroni, Piero Maria Lugli, Luigi Agati). The US ECA mission designed the foundation of the village. Adriano Olivetti formed a disciplinary commission for the study and availed himself of the urban planning collaboration of Federico Gorio and Ludovico Quaroni. The space The village church, designed by the same architect Quaroni with Valori, Gorio, Lugli and Agati, is of great interest. On the altar there is an imposing painted wooden crucifix, the work of Giorgio Quaroni; the majolica ceramic floor is by the brothers Pietro and Andrea Cascella. The bronze portal of the church is the work of Floriano Bodini. Today, my wife and I live alone, and we like to enliven it with the presence of brothers and sisters of the church. Other things to note Here we have the Oven where the famous and typical bread of Matera is baked as it was two thousand years ago, with bundles of olive, oak and Mediterranean maquis branches, so as to keep the trees clean and without overgrowing, while this cooking gives the bread goodness, browning and an intoxicating aroma. About two hundred pieces of bread per kilo are baked, plus taralli and dry pasta, all strictly handmade. It can be visited by our dear brothers and sisters.
