Our open-space holiday home offers the perfect blend of privacy and community, situated within the magnificent Green Hills Homestead. Set on a sprawling 10,000-square-meter estate, this property is your perfect escape from the city hustle. Traveling with a larger group, up to 12 people? The space Located in the village of Dugnjevec just a few minutes' drive from the Slovenian border, Green Hills Cottage is perfect for guests seeking fresh air and spectacular views! Around an hour’s drive from both central Zagreb and Franjo Tuđman Airport, the house is nestled deep in the Zagorje countryside, famed for its fairytale castles and signature wines. At almost 90sqm, the property is spread across two floors. Upstairs are two tastefully decorated open-space double bedrooms, one with ensuite access. Downstairs is a spacious, fully equipped kitchen and dining area, a comfortable living room, and a family bathroom. Designed for comfort, the interiors ooze rustic charm with one-off vintage pieces and ridiculously comfy sofas—this is casual luxury at its best! The Grounds: With one hectare of landscaped communal gardens, there is an abundance of space to explore, find your own quiet corner under a tree, or let your pets roam freely. Upstairs, you’ll find plenty of crisp bed linen and fluffy towels—everything you need to kick back and fully unwind. Explore the Heart of Zagorje We are conveniently located just a few minutes' drive from the Slovenian border, making us an easy and scenic stop for those traveling across Europe. For those who want to stay active, Green Hills Homestead is perfectly positioned near a variety of scenic biking and hiking routes. As your hosts on the estate, we’d be happy to recommend our personal favorite trails! If relaxation is your priority, you are just a 7-minute drive from the famous Terme Tuhelj Spa, known for its thermal springs and healing mud treatments. For the curious and the brave: History Buffs: The area is rich with fairytale castles and is only 5 minutes from Kumrovec, the unique ethno-village and birthplace of Tito. Adrenaline Junkies: Don’t miss the world-class helicopter flight simulators at Heli Center Toplice, located just a short drive away. Other things to note Location As you can tell, Green Hills Cottage is a secluded retreat. This means you won’t find a bakery or shop within walking distance, but in exchange, you get crystal-clear night skies and a level of peace that’s hard to find elsewhere. Authentic Atmosphere As this is our home, you’ll experience the true charm of a peaceful countryside life. Expect the soothing sounds of nature and the occasional distant village chatter. You might even meet our cats and unique Japanese Silkie chickens—their fluffy feathers and calm nature make them a favorite guest encounter (and yes, you might hear a traditional morning wake-up call from our roosters!). There’s plenty of room for laughter and long evening conversations under the stars.
