The lodge at Earthshine was built in 1990 as part of a groundbreaking experiential education facility and has been an energizing outdoor classroom, guiding students, families, and corporate groups to better knowledge and insight about themselves and the natural world. Today, we continue that heritage by hosting groups of all types throughout the year and the rest of the time we offer lodging and activities to guests from all over the world looking for unparalleled relaxation and recreation. While we do provide wireless internet access (fine for emails, but our remote mountain top location makes streaming difficult), our core belief is that the best memories come from friends and loved ones sharing experiences outdoors. We are a place where guests come to disconnect from the outside world and connect to themselves, each other, and nature. There have never been TVs in the rooms at Earthshine and we’re proud to continue that tradition. Our property is nestled right in the heart of the Appalachian mountains, covering 76 acres of pasture and woodland, full of tranquil streams and trails. We share a border with Pisgah National Forest, and the northern view from the lodge is a sweeping panorama of the Blue Ridge. Recent updates to the facility include all new beds and linens, local artwork, trail and property improvements, and unique on site programming like llama hikes, blacksmithing, knife making, and much more. Earthshine Lodge is the ideal basecamp for all of your outdoor adventures. Our 76-acre property borders Pisgah National Forest and we are within close driving distance to DuPont Forest, Gorges State Park, and the Nantahala National Forest. Whether you are looking for a place to stay near the countless waterfall hikes in the area, mountain biking trails, breweries, climbing, paddling, etc., we have you covered! Guest access With this listing, you are reserving one guest room in the main lodge (there are 8 total, with 3 additional units in our Sunrise Cottage). Your room is private, with its own bathroom, a queen bed, loft area with two twin beds, and balcony. You have access to all public areas in the lodge and property. The lodge offers two decks with amazing mountain views, two indoor fireplaces, game/community areas, and dining space. The property offers 76 acres of private forest and fields, with multiple hiking trails, streams, campfire pits, and a small fishing pond (catch and release). Coffee and continental breakfast is included with your booking! Other things to note While the main lodge is not able to accommodate pets, we do have dog friendly rooms available on property in the Sunrise Cottage. You are welcome to visit our llama ladies down at the barn for a quick selfie, but please refrain from entering their enclosure or opening any gates, and please don’t feed them (lots of the local plants can cause them serious harm)!
