Description
The space is a reclaimed game larder dating from the late 1800's which has been lovingly restored and repurposed into a cosy and comfortable chalet. There are two beds, one upstairs in the loft and the other a sofa bed which folds out downstairs. There is a food preparation area complete with cups, plates, glasses etc. as well as a wood burning stove, hotub and television. The toilets and showers are a short walk away, along with a large fridge which are shared with the adjoining campsite. The space The Game Larder was bought for the local shooting estate around the turn of the 20th century by Sir Francis Ley. Made of cedar wood and manufactured by the firm Boulton and Paul and just 9ft x 9ft, the building spent most of the last century forgotten and unused in the woods until it was relocated a mile up the road and turned into something altogether different! We set the Game Larder facing down the Esk Valley and directly across from Danby beacon. The views are fantastic and the sunsets can be truly spectacular. The decking outside provides the perfect viewing platform to enjoy the scenery. There is now also a hottub to enjoy a glass of wine whilst looking down the valley! We provide an electric cooking hob, kettle, utensils, and a toaster, there is also a large fridge in the shower building. The bed is upstairs in the loft area but there is also the option for a sofa bed downstairs instead. There is a TV/DVD player, as well as books, games and dvds. Lawnsgate Farm is a traditional sheep and cattle hill farm and there is also a small campsite opposite. We have Scottish blackface sheep and Galloway and shorthorn cows. We also have three bulls which are kept up in the shed during winter. The toilets and showers are in a converted building 20 metres away and are shared with the campsite. There is also an outdoor sink and washing up facilities.
