Step back in time, in an authentic working-class home from 1842 in the heart of Friesland. Original bedstee and beautiful paneling add character. A modern kitchen, 2 bathrooms and fast Wi-Fi ensure comfort. Behind the house: sunny garden by the water overlooking Frisian horses. In front: the kickball field and an old church. For 6 guests, with 4 bikes (2 electric) ready for the Greidhoeke. Close to Leeuwarden. The space Húns 16 is our own summer house: a working-class home from 1842 in the small Frisian village of Húns. As soon as you step inside, you will feel the history. The original box bed, the wooden beamed ceiling, the old pantry, and the elegant wooden paneling in the living room are still completely intact. The walls are made of typical yellow bricks from that time: details that give the house a warmth you won't find in new construction. At the same time, we didn't sacrifice any comfort. The spacious kitchen-diner has all modern appliances, there are two fresh bathrooms, central heating, washing machine, dryer and fast Wi-Fi. We also have two bedrooms with a double bed and a third bedroom with two single beds, accommodating 6 guests in total. Behind the house is a large, sunny garden by the water, overlooking a meadow with Frisian horses: the perfect place for a book, a glass of wine, or just nothing. From the front, you can look out over the court and the 13th-century St. Nicholas Church. For children, there is a playground on the field, and board games are available indoors for a rainy afternoon. Want to explore the area? Four bicycles are available for you, two of which are electric, to effortlessly cross through the green Greidhoeke towards Leeuwarden, Franeker or Bolsward. Húns 16 is not just a vacation home; it is a piece of Frisian history where you immediately feel at home. Guest access Guests have the entire home at their disposal: the kitchen-living room, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and the living room with original bedstee and woodwork. The sunny garden by the water and the four bicycles (two of which are electric) are also fully at your disposal during your stay. Check-in is completely contactless: upon arrival, you take the key from the key locker by the gate door using a code that you receive from us in advance. This way, you can check in at your own pace, without having to wait. You can park right in front of the door: there are two public parking spaces right in front of the house. Other things to note Húns 16 is an authentic house from 1842, and you can see that: there is a slightly lower door, so watch your head. The stairs to the attic were once a steep ladder. After the renovation, they became real stairs, less steep than a ladder, but steeper than you are used to. Húns does not have its own shops. For groceries, cycle to Winsum (12 minutes, 2.6 km), where you will find a supermarket and a bakery. Parking is available directly in front of the door, where a parking space is available. You can also always go to the village hall on the other side of the court, a minute's walk from the house. Unfortunately, charging an electric car is not possible at our house. The nearest charging point is in Baard, a 5-minute drive away. Please let us know, and we'll have a bike ready for you so you can be back in 8 minutes. We rent out Húns 16 for a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 30 nights. Pets are unfortunately not allowed. In the past, pets have caused damage to the original woodwork, and we want to prevent that in the future. Smoking is not allowed indoors. Fortunately, it is allowed in the garden, as long as you take your butts with you. We prefer not to have parties in our cottage. A nice dinner with the group is of course fine, but we ask that you respect this old house and our neighbors. Rental to a group under 20 years of age is only possible if someone 25 years of age or older is present during the entire rental period.
