The Black Monarch! Haunted Brothel!
The Black Monarch was re-built after a fire in 1899 as a brothel, casino, and saloon. It is a storied slice of Victorian era Americana , nestled in the beautiful Rocky Mountain gold rush city of Victor, Colorado. The building is exquisite in its design and well preserved with original windows, doors, tin ceilings, and stairs. Local legend states that the building is haunted by the ghost of a miner who died in a gunfight, and was originally wired by electrical genius Nikola Tesla. You will be immediately overwhelmed with the incredible beauty and rich history of this enormous Victorian Gothic brothel! Featuring 12 and 15 foot ceilings throughout, ornate solid oak doors, huge bay windows, and original hard wood floors... this spooky Rocky Mountain getaway is a must for the alternative traveler! The building is currently under the process of being lovingly restored by its new owners. Every room has been uniquely themed and decorated with luxurious furniture, creepy art, authentic taxidermy, and very real oddities. Every piece has been individually curated and picked by the owners. We would love to get to know you! But we also know that this is your vacation and you may just want some time to yourself. We are available if needed.
