Description

Two storey mansion of the middle century estate of kalamoti. Fully renovated in 2011. A particular attention was given to the decoration, the comfort and the luxury of the materials, where stone and wood are prevalent keeping simultaneously the spirit of the past. Built in two levels with an inner stair, it has two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, a living room, a fireplace and a balcony with the view of the picturesque chapel of “Ai Giannis”. The space A three level stone, bright house with a big yard and balcony. It can accommodate 4 to6 people easily. If it is asked for single beds they can be added to the basic spaces (for example, your kids). The visitors will be amazed by the middle aged Genouatic architecture and the luxurious details: old fashioned kitchen, fridge. The furniture, the decoration, the paintings and the everyday use of objects, antiques of the grandparents, contribute to the creation of a sense of a past century. At the ground floor is the kitchen with the living room which are separated from a bowed opening. In the southern space is the big kitchen fully- equipped: fridge, sink, work stalls, dishwasher, dining table, oven, toaster kitchenware, cutlery set, pans, fork and knives which end in the big yard the second entrance of the house. In the northern place, where is the central entrance of the house, is the bathroom with the living room, a stone built sofa and a fireplace for your winter dashes. On the first floor there is a spacious room with a double iron bed, which is absolutely suited with the stone walls, and a vintage desk, as well as a small wardrobe. From the two windows the visitor can see the mountains with the “ masticha” trees where early in the morning their smell is emited. From the balcony you can enjoy your breakfast or your afternoon coffee under the cool shadow of a “ boukamvilia “ tree with its bright flowers. Late at night you can enjoy a drink under the mild light of the candles, watching the flooded sky with the stars of beautiful Chios. The second floor is the attic of the house, which can accommodate 4 people since it has a sofa that turns into to become a comfortable double bed ideal for a snap or a night’s sleep. There are also two single beds and a big wooden wardrobe. All the rooms are air – conditioned. In the yard there is a warehouse where we provide you with tools and cleaning equipment like a vacuum cleaner and a washing machine. Guest access All the house is available with the respect of the place and the personal items though. Besides, the mansion itself inspire you to do so. The visitors have access to all rooms, yard, balcony, warehouse and common spaces. They can also use every electrical device, tool or equipment which is in the house, to prepare food, to clean the house or wash the clothes. Other things to note Kalamoti is one of the biggest villages in Chios, in the southeast area. It is one of the 21 “masticha” villages in a good condition as it concerns the middle aged estate. It is 24 kilometres away from the city of Chios. There are two rumours about the name of Kalamoti. The first owns the name to a kind of jewellery which completed the women’s clothing. The second and the most prevalent is to mean “cane plexus” which were used for the growing of silkworm. This is still shown today. The today’s estate of Kalamoti has its shape from the period of sea keeping (1346-1566). This fact forced the residents to create land in a piece of area where the village would be invisible from the enemies and at the same time watch the pirate ships coming. This signal was coming from the villager who was lighting a fire to inforn the residents for the enemy. In 1566 Chios was conceived by Turkish and Kalamoti passed to them due to the great production and wealth from “masticha “trees. In 1912 Chios was liberated and constructed the first primary school. After the end of the Greece- Italy war and the German tenure, the need for reconstruction was strong. The next step in the spiritual evolution of Kalamoti became in 1950 after the erection of the High school. Registration Details 00000539824
