The historic six-story Great Stone Dwelling (1837) offers 20 Shaker retiring rooms on its third and fourth floors. Each room features original architectural elements and Shaker-style furniture. Located near Mascoma Lake, in Enfield, NH, this historic Shaker site is being preserved and restored by Enfield Shaker Museum. We also serve as a wedding, conference, and event space. Use this listing to book a Single Room (one queen bed with a private bathroom) for $120/night (dependent on season). The space Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this site of the original Enfield Shaker Village (1793-1923) is a vibrant cultural, community, and educational center. Tour the Great Stone Dwelling, the largest Shaker dwelling house ever constructed and home to the Museum (a free tour of the Museum is included in your stay and must be reserved before your arrival). Discover a world of faith and harmony through the Museum's collection of Shaker furniture, tools, clothing, photographs, and agricultural implements. Explore the Museum's herb and flower gardens, fields, and hills. Hike to the Shaker Feast Ground for a spectacular vista of the Shaker Village nestled along Mascoma Lake. Or choose shorter hiking trails on and near the site. The Museum is located about 2 miles from the Northern Rail Trail. Shop at the Gift Shop, filled with Shaker-inspired reproductions, books, local crafts, and farm products, as well as products from the Museum's renowned herb garden. The Museum is close to several other points of interest, such as the La Salette Shrine right next door, multiple area sites for hiking/biking, and about 12 miles from Hanover, NH, home of Dartmouth College. During your stay The Museum is open for tours in summer season 2021 Thursday through Sunday, from 10 am to 5 pm. Interpreter-guided tours are scheduled at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm on these days. The Events Coordinator and Executive Director are usually available during business hours, and available via email/phone for questions before your stay. We are happy to help with area recommendations and plans, but for the most part we allow guests their own privacy in regards to their overnight stay.
