Perfect bolthole for downtime in the South Downs

Swallowfield Cottage is a cosy, detached Victorian self-catering cottage in the heart of the Keymer Conservation Area. On the boundary of the South Downs National Park, close to Ditchling, Hassocks and Brighton, it is an excellent base for local walking and cycling and the perfect escape for quality downtime. The space The cottage sleeps up to 4 comfortably in the two upstairs bedrooms, one twin and one double, with space for a cot if required. The double room has views to the South Downs and Jack and Jill Windmills. The family bathroom is downstairs, where there is also a cosy sitting room with a log burner, smart TV and 2 sofas, and games in the cupboards for rainy days. There is a large open kitchen with dining table and sitting area with french doors into the rear garden. The kitchen is well stocked with all essentials, as well as local information including maps and guidebooks. There is also a separate reading corner on the ground floor with armchair, workspace desk and lots of books. Please note that the stairs are much steeper than in modern properties and therefore the cottage is less suitable for guests with limited mobility. Guest access The cottage has off road parking for 2 cars at the front, and a private south facing rear garden. The garden has a patio with outdoor dining furniture, and a lawn area enclosed by shrubs with reclining seating and a bench. There is a rotary clothes airer available. Other things to note All beds are fully made up with pure cotton linen and towels are provided for all guests, along with kitchen and bathroom essentials/linens. Duvets are suited to the season and both soft and firm pillows are provided for each bed. Fast wifi broadband throughout, and mobile coverage is also good. There is off road parking for 2 cars in front of the cottage. A dedicated EV charger is available for guest use but please notify us in advance as it will need to be remotely activated. The use of ‘granny chargers’ for EV charging is strictly prohibited. Third party services are prohibited in the property. The booker must be part of the group staying in the property. Strictly non smoking throughout, including vapes and e-cigarettes. No E-bikes or E-scooters allowed on the premises at any time.
