Description

Swallowfield Cottage is a super-clean and cosy, detached Victorian self-catering cottage in the heart of the Keymer Conservation Area. On the boundary of the South Downs National Park, close to Ditchling, Hassocks and Brighton, it is an excellent base for local walking and cycling and the perfect escape for quality downtime. The space The cottage sleeps up to 4 very comfortably in the two upstairs bedrooms, one twin and one double, with space for a cot if required. The double room has views to the South Downs and Jack and Jill Windmills. The family bathroom is downstairs, where there is also a cosy sitting room with a log burner, smart TV and 2 sofas, and plenty of games in the cupboards for rainy days. There is a large open kitchen with dining table and sitting area with french doors into the rear garden. The kitchen is well stocked with all essentials to ensure a real 'home from home' stay, and the shelves contain lots of local information including maps and guidebooks. There is also a separate reading corner on the ground floor with armchair, workspace desk and lots of books. Please note that the stairs are much steeper with narrower treads than more modern properties and therefore the cottage is not suitable for guests with limited mobility. The cottage is strictly non-smoking, including the use of vapes and e-cigarettes. Due to new fire safety regulations, E-Bikes and E-Scooters are prohibited anywhere on the premises. The use of ‘granny chargers’ for EV charging is also strictly prohibited. A dedicated EV charger is available for guest use. Guest access The cottage has off road parking for 2 cars at the front, and a private south facing rear garden. The garden has a patio with outdoor dining furniture, and a lawn area enclosed by shrubs with reclining seating and a bench. The garden is planted to be a haven for butterflies and bees, and there is a rotary line for drying clothes that can be put up if required. There is a separate access into the rear garden along the side of the cottage. Other things to note The cottage is thoroughly deep cleaned on every changeover. All beds are fully made up with pure cotton linen and towels are provided for all guests, as are all the kitchen and bathroom essentials/linens. Duvets are suited to the season but easily changed for warmer/cooler if required. Both soft and firm pillows are provided for each bed. Fast wifi broadband throughout, and mobile coverage is also good. There is off road parking for 2 cars in front of the cottage. An EV charger is available for guest use but please notify us in advance as it will need to be remotely activated before use. All the major supermarkets (Tesco/Sainsburys/Asda/Waitrose) do home delivery to the cottage, and Abel and Cole deliver on Thursdays. Strictly non smoking throughout, including vapes and e-cigarettes. No E-bikes or E-scooters allowed on the premises at any time.
