Perfect location and all the amenities! Located right next to the French Quarter and the jazz clubs of Frenchmen Street, this historic, 1800s shotgun is full of eclectic, original art. An abundance of vibrant colors, comfortable furnishings, and cold air conditioning make it the perfect place to chill after a long day in the city, or a wild night on Frenchmen Street. Owner lives onsite but gives guests space and privacy. I love to use creative, architectural pieces as solutions to problems, so you will find custom-built tables, windows set high in the walls to let in light, the innards of an old piano hung on the wall as art, and an assortment of things from my art and weird things collection. I hope my guests will enjoy the comfortable, vibrant ambiance. The house is a classic New Orleans shotgun with a hallway, two private, quiet queen bedrooms, a living room with a television and gas fireplace stove, a bathroom with a shower/tub combo, and a brick patio backyard with a table and chairs. There are lots of additional comfort and practical amenities, like a steamer and iron, extra pillows, blankets, and towels, toiletries, a well-stocked kitchen with local spices, plenty of pans and cooking tools, a nice coffee maker, hot water kettle, and even some popcorn for those late nights. Please feel free to inquire if you're looking for something specific! I am around but keep separate from the guests other than the shared bathroom, which I will use only once in the evening. I’m available if anyone needs me, but otherwise I give my guests their privacy. Considered by many to the "the quintessential Creole neighborhood in New Orleans" pre-Civil War, the South Seventh Ward continues to be a neighborhood of many colors. As a many-year resident of this area, I continue to find it to be both welcoming and safe. I walk down to the French Quarter all the time from my house--it's maybe a seven to ten minute walk, and very pretty with all of the old houses on the way. I am also right next to the Marigny and Marigny Triangle, the Bywater, St. Roch, and the new St. Claude Streetcar. Lots of people may choose to Uber or Lyft, and there is plenty of parking out front. The bathroom is shared, but I only use it once in the evening for 15 minutes. I will schedule this with you. No check-in/out allowed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, or Mardi Gras Day. There is one security camera on the porch pointed at the street and front door. Booking When you book, I would appreciate your inclusion of the following information: • number of people staying • reason for visit • anticipated arrival and depature time, if available • Any special requests, questions, or concerns Holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas especially): I ask that guests do not plan to cook large, holiday-style family meals in my home. Regular day-to-day cooking is encouraged, but the house is not equipped for large scale cooking, nor is the cleaning fee set to include that level of labor for my crew afterwards. If you would like to book these dates and need ideas as to where to go eat, I am more than happy to help. I reserve the right to cancel any reservations that do not fit the below-listed requests. Mardi Gras Any guest booking the Friday and Saturday before Mardi Gras must book both of those days. No check-in/put on Marsdi Gras day. Jazz Fest Each weekend of Jazz Fest must be booked with a minimum of three of the four days of each weekend of the festival. Please feel free to message me with any questions, I would be happy to discuss or negotiate this depending on your plans. Deposit I do include a $200 deposit in my listing, but the guest is ONLY charged if something is damaged during the course of your stay. It is NOT charged and then refunded afterwards. Parking There is plenty of free parking on the street in front of the house. If for any reason you have an issue finding a spot, please send me a message! I can always move my own car and give you my spot if the street is full (this only happens on the weekends right around Mardi Gras, and even then it’s not bad). Check-in 24-hour check-in is available—the door is equipped with a digital lock with a code. A few days before your check-in, I will send you all of the information you will need to do so via Airbnb messenger. You may have this set to send you as a text or as an e-mail, but my recommendation is that you login through the app or website to retrieve the information I send. This will include the door codes and address, as well as any other necessary details and last minute notes. I will expect a response to verify that you have received and read this information, as it will ensure a problem-free check-in for everyone. Late Check-out/Early Check-in I cannot, unfortunately, accommodate late check-out. 11am check-out is absolutely firm, and any guests staying after this time without my express permission will be charged $50 for every fifteen minutes after eleven am that they have not left. I can, however, usually accommodate late luggage if you would like to leave it behind. Please message me to discuss this. Early check-in is sometimes available; please feel free to inquire. Luggage: I can accommodate luggage storage before check-in or after check-out on a case-by-case basis, but typically it is no problem. Please just let me know ahead of time and I will do my best to make it happen. Communication: I prefer to communicate via Airbnb messenger, which can be accessed by logging in through the website or the app. This is for my protection as well as yours, as it keeps a record of our communication for Airbnb to reference. Before your trip, I will communicate exclusively through Airbnb messenger unless for some reason we need to talk on the phone. During your trip, I am happy to communicate via text if you would prefer not to install the Airbnb app, please just indicate to me that you will be doing so and remember to identify yourself to me when you get in touch that way. Check-out: Upon check-out, I ask that guests please do: • Wash any dishes -- If you choose to use the dishwasher, please rinse dishes before loading, and then run it with a detergent pod in the chamber (and closed) on the one hour setting. Otherwise, please wash dishes by hand and leave them in the rack by the sink. • Put any trash in trash cans • Put all towels in hamper • Send me a message when you leave I ask that guests please do not: • Strip the bedding from the beds • Take the trash out when you leave (unless it’s full and you would like to, or becomes full during your stay). Everything in the house is intended for guest use, but here are a few things you may want to know about: Bedrooms Each bedroom contains pillows, sheets, a quilt, an extra blanket, night stands, bedside lamps, outlets for charging devices, a bench on which to sit or store luggage, a table, and a mirror. The larger bedroom also has an iron, ironing board, and full-length mirror. Bathroom The bathroom is equipped with shampoo and conditioner, body soap, one washcloth and one towel per guest, toilet paper, a blow dryer, a first-aid kit, Ibuprofen, and Tums. Kitchen The kitchen has a coffee maker, coffee, tea, powdered creamer, and sugar, as well as a full set of dishes, a microwave and toaster, as well as some basic pots and pans, as well as cooking oil, salt, and pepper. Living Room TV with Netflix & Amazon, books, remote control-operated gas stove
