The Royal Room is part of a small hotel (La Torre del Cornone). You will find us in the historic center of the village of Fontecchio (AQ), just a 5-minute walk from the main square. Fontecchio is a small village with a medieval layout and appearance located in the heart of the Sirente Velino Park. The space The Royal Room is a single double or twin room, with a private bathroom. It is located on the garden level and is accessed from a separate entrance that opens under a large arch. From the balcony, a view of the green "wall" of the forest that accompanies, at the bottom of the valley, the river and the Sulmona -L'Aquila railway. Guest access A few steps from the house, a shared rustic room is available to guests - formerly a cellar with a stone pressing tank - which opens onto a small panoramic space, overlooking the valley and the sunset. Also within walking distance and shared with other guests, a panoramic garden with armchairs, a large table with a brick seat, under the pergola of "Malvasia Aquilana". We are a few minutes' walk from the town square (Piazza del Popolo), where you can park your car. There are a few stairs both inside the house and in the public access path. We also have a space to leave bicycles. Directly from the house, through the Porta da Piedi path, you can reach the valley where the Aterno river flows or you can go up to Pagliare. The house is located along the Cammino di San Tommaso (Rome-Ortona) and along that of Calestino V (Sulmona-L'Aquila). From here you can set off to visit the many villages, to reach the paths of the highest mountains of the Gran Sasso, Monte Sirente and Maiella Madre. A few minutes' drive away, Lake Sinizzo, where you can cool off in summer, and the caves of Stiffe. Nearby, the Campo Imperatore plateau with Rocca di Calascio and Santo Stefano di Sessanio, the cities of L'Aquila and Sulmona. Guests have access to guides, trail and road maps, a well-stocked library on the environment and landscape, and all our expertise on itineraries, local food, and wineries to get to know and visit. In the village, all the necessary amenities for a peaceful stay: the bar and tobacconist, a grocery store, restaurants, a deli, pharmacy, post office with ATM. Other things to note The Torre del Cornone is also an Environmental Education Center recognized by the Abruzzo Region and seeks to minimize the impact of its services on the environment.
