Ptarmigan is a beautiful 2 bedroom holiday chalet that can sleep up to 4 people. Having recently been undergone a full internal refurbishment consisting of a brand new Sheraton kitchen finished in Painted Hickory including new built in AEG washing machine, oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge with ice box kitchen appliances. The wortops are Mistral composite in Glacier white with upstands and splash back. Moving from the open plan kitchen to the living and dining room the flooring is beautifully crafted in a reclaimed Chestnut wood effect. Lounge back in the comfy sofa and gaze at the stunning view Ptarmigan has to offer through a large sliding patio door that leads onto a private East facing balcony with garden furniture offering unrestricted views over Loch Iubhair (pronounced Ewar) Ben More and the surrounding mountains. A truly magnificent Highland setting. The shared living and dining area is plenty spacious for both a living room suite, dining table and chairs and an entertainment system with 32 inch wall mounted TV with freeview SKY and Blu Ray DVD. Wifi, USB charging points and low energy LED lighting. All walls are decorated with choice Farrow and Ball colour schemes blended in with all chalet funrniture and hand made Roman blinds throughout. The 2 bedrooms consist of a king size double and a twin and are fitted with soft pile bedroom carpets, bespoke made reclaimed Chestnut wood effect built in bed headboads, built in wardrobes with vanity area, Egyptian cotton bed linen, towels and 2000 spring, pocket sprung hotel grade bed mattresses with cashmere top. A shared family bathroom fitted with both a bath with an overhead power shower and Rionte low energy heated towel rail. Situated on the Portnellan Estate high on a hillside with commanding views over Glen Dochart, Ptarmigan has a magnificent setting with a true Highland landscape all around. Often complimented by the abundance of bird and wild life that an be seen on the estate. It is not unusual to see the deer meandering off the hill and passing nearby your chalet. The Portnellan Estate has been privately owned by the same family for over 40 years and offers fantastic facilities to include fresh run salmon and trout fishing on the estate lochs and river, plenty of cycling on and off road for all abilities. There are kayaks, paddle boards and rowing boats on the river and lochs and a games room offering a pool table, table tennis and table football as well as a wee gym. Clay pigeon shooting can also be arranged. Wifi is available throughout the estate as well as BBQ hire. A wee visitors centre offers you th use of a DVD library, a selection of board games as well as local produce for sale to include honey, a range of hand made candles, eggs from our ducks on the estate and organic meat products fresh from a farm locally, perfect for the BBQ or home cooking. Ptarmigan is so centrally located for exploring Central/West Scotland with known landmarks only a short distance away. Oban 45 mins, Stirling, Fort William and Glasgow just over an hour. Edinburgh 1.5 hours. Glen Coe and all it beholds is less than 40 mins drive and the bonnie shores of Loch Lomond are 20 mins by car. Other areas include the truly beautiful Glen Lyon and Loch Tay, Glen Etive, Glen Lochay and Glen Orchy all within the local area. We had no idea what to expect before we arrived, and we had travelled from the United States to attend her birthday. The magic of Portnellan added to the magic of seeing my daughter turn 21.
