It makes a good base for exploring not just Delft, but the whole of the Randstad. The space In renovating the house, we have endeavoured to bring out its best qualities: good proportions, an abundance of gentle Delft light, and a touch of something indefinably Dutch. Typically steep stairs lead from the front door straight to the first floor, which offers a choice of directions: left and right to two bedrooms (one facing the garden, the other the street), further right to the bathroom and a toilet, or ahead, up a second flight of stairs, in pursuit of even more light at the top of the house. The second floor is mostly given over to a large space containing the kitchen, dining table, and sitting area (overlooking the garden); the sofa here unfolds to make a comfortable double bed; on the landing are a second toilet and an area for the washing machine and drier.
