Acadia National Park is a paddle away! Welcome to the Quietside of Mount Desert Island with lake access in a retreat setting and yet centrally located for exploring community activities. Explore, refresh, rejuvenate and relax. The space Enjoy the fresh air and experience of wooded nature with access to Echo Lake. This large house built for retreating to home, offers a bedroom with a view of the pine treetops. From the house you can walk to Beech Hill Farm through the woods, wander to the lake or simply be still on the deck, by the fire or in a meditation space in the forest. The house is conveniently located minutes from Southwest Harbor and many trailheads for hiking in Acadia National Park such as Beech, Acadia, and Western with stunning views. Southwest Harbor (known as the Quietside) offers some outstanding restaurants Enjoy the sunset over cocktails at the historic Claremont Hotel's Boat House Restaurant. Or some of the island's best dining at Red Sky, Coda, Sips, Beals Lobster Pound (for GREAT lobster choices) or XYZ (traditional Mexican). There is also golfing at the Causeway Club (open to non-members), yoga with Mary Kate Murray, ice cream at Quietside Cafe & Ice Cream Shop and coffee at Milagro Coffee & Espresso. Southwest also features gift shops, galleries and farmer’s market (Fridays in season), as well as a bakery, an excellent wine shop, great beer selection at the local liquor store and a boutique grocery. Bicycle and kayak rentals are available right in town. And of course there are endless adventures on Mount Desert Island. It takes about 15 minutes to drive from this central location to downtown Bar Harbor where you will find: sightseeing, guided whale watching and rock climbing. Enjoy popovers at Jordan Pond House or lobster eating wherever! Guest access Access to a washer & dryer. Amenities include high speed internet and a gas grill. Bikes can be stored in the garage. During your stay We're in and out of the house most days. Sometimes we'll be doing our own thing, and sometimes we're free. When we love to cook, we love to cook and share. When the organic garden is bountiful, we’ll share that, too. (and even sometimes fresh organic eggs from the chickens) I’m a bit of a breakfast fan! But the house is big, so if you're looking for privacy, you can find that too. I really enjoy sharing this magical place and island that we live on! Other things to note We can create many sorts of packages that might be for you. Some services are available on occasion at the house for additional charges such as yin yoga, meditation, life-coaching and bodywork. For a fee we can also arrange for kayak or canoe rentals to be delivered.
