“The Barnacle", is our family's 1924 cozy, beach cottage that many have fallen in love with. Just 1 short block to a beautiful sandy beach with a creek, "the cape", caves, tidal pools - stunning coastal scenery galore! Whether during warm summer fun, or exciting winter storms, guests love to end up near our old stone fireplace. Our location is so close to the beach, yet quiet and peaceful - the perfect old-fashioned beach cottage to renew and refresh! Must See Photos! Returning guests love our historic beach cottage - without the modern amenities of a hotel or newer home. Our old beach stone fireplace, efficient baseboard heating, and newly added indoor vintage tub hot shower, keep our guests toasty warm during their stay! Guests say how much they enjoy "getting away" at The Barnacle, as it's intentionally "Un-Plugged" with no Wi-Fi or TV in a very peaceful, serene community. Stunning, scenic, fun parks nearby: Ecola / Indian Beach - (2 spectacular parks in one.) @ North End of Cannon Beach; Arcadia Beach - Beautiful Beach with Tidal Pools just 3mi. north of our cottage; Hug Point - Amazing Old Coast Roadway in Rock! & Beautiful Beach, Caves, Waterfall, just 2mi.north of our cottage, and then Short Sands Beach (Oswald West), just 4.4mi. south & on the way to Manzanita. Short Sands is a Favorite Surfing Spot & Beautiful Beach, with Waterfall, Trail to the beach along a Forested Creek, and a great Hike to stunning views at Cape Falcon & along the way! Cannon Beach to the north has many Art Galleries, Shops, Coffee Shops, Cafe's, Restaurants, Micro Breweries/Brew Pubs - several types of Eateries, Bakery, Candy Factory/Shoppe, Ice Creamery, and famous Haystack Rock on a wonderful beach! Manzanita is also a quaint, village-like place that reminds me of the Cannon Beach of yesteryear, with shops, eateries, and a great beach! - To keep the rates low, guests must bring their own linens: Bed Sheets, Pillow Cases, Bath/Beach and Kitchen/Dish, Hand Towels. (Blankets and Pillows are provided). - The Back Bedroom has a full/double bed, as well as the sleeper sofa next to the fireplace in the living room. - The Front Bedroom has 3 single/twin beds, where 2 are bunk beds. You can refer to our photos to get a feel for the room arrangements. - Seasoned / Dry firewood is provided for our cottage fireplace only. There should be (usually) driftwood on the beach to gather for beach fires, or it is available at local grocery stores. - Currently, we allow guests who bring a dog or create any extra work cleaning or preparing for the next guests beyond our included light cleaning service, to take care of it themselves prior to checkout. If they do not, an additional fee of at least $65 will be charged for extra cleaning/prep labor and time to follow through with the guest. - If do not yet have any reviews, you will be asked to pay a refundable damage deposit with your reservation. - In July and August during peak summer months, guests must book by the week, with Saturday being the check-in/out day (Saturday-to-Saturday schedule). - Guests can now book more than one consecutive week (if available). -Being an older place and nice yard, maintenance is regularly necessary. Please communicate with host if you have special needs of privacy for your stay that would require host scheduling needed tasks to be done at and around the property and yard. -We have a strict NO SMOKING policy anywhere on the property. $300 charge if any smoking occurs inside or outside on the property. -Myself, our worker, or friends are in the area.
