An ideal home away from home – perfect for couples and families with kids and (small/medium-sized) dogs. ***Important to note*** You will hear potentially hear noise from above you and you will also hear regular downtown noises. Ie. Foot traffic and cars. Please be aware that if you are a light sleeper, then earplugs and a sound machine might be needed. We provide both as needed. We also ask that you are aware and courteous of the people below you. Late night talks kept to the front porch or living room. The kitchen is right above the downstairs bedroom. You're booking a place in downtown so you will be close to all of the greatest Raleigh has to offer and you will also see people of all different colors and socioeconomics. If you have a problem with noise and nightlife and/or diversity, please consider somewhere that is less lively. We rarely have guests with this issue but we like to be as transparent as possible. We are a mixed race/culture family business, we cherish all that our small and safe city has to offer, and we will not stand for any of the -isms or the -phobias. We hope that all of these amenities provide an added value to our guests that you just cant find at a hotel. Important pet rules to mind: * Absolutely NO dogs on the furniture and bed. We’re very strict about this. * Take or crate your dog(s) whenever you’re not on the premises (Violations of this rule will be asked to leave. I was recently bitten by a dog. If your dog can't abide kennels then we are not a good fit. We will provide a kennel for your use.) * No excessive barking is permitted – this is a quiet neighborhood and a dog in distress isn’t pleasant for the neighbors around and above you. General house rules & info (full list of rules is under the rules section): * Shh! Quiet time is before 8am and after 9pm for dogs, kids, music, etc. Sound violations can result in the termination of your stay without a refund. * We retain the right to check on our property and may need to enter for reasons unrelated to your stay (i.e. storage, electrical, or utility access) * Although there’s an occupied unit above you, the backyard, deck, and grill are all exclusively for your use. * Be a respectful visitor is all we ask. Please keep food in the right, places, small children in safe areas, pets off of the furniture, and treat our home with care and kindness. The backyard and middle spaces of the driveway are solely your outside areas. The front porch, front yard, and foyer are shared areas. The side yard is for the upstairs flat's use. There has been much change and development of the area over the past 5 years. The city is currently redoing some local parks and squares nearby and we are looking forward to all the benefits this will provide our guests. You can easily walk or drive downtown to restaurants, museums, and nightlife. There will be noise, this is truly a downtown location, expect foot traffic and also noise from the flat above. We have ear plugs and noise machines, if desired. You can walk or take a bus most places. There is a bus stop half a block away has a bus that leaves every 12-15min that goes directly to the center of downtown Raleigh, its a 3-5 min bus ride. Also, there is the R-Line which is a free bus that circles downtown. Ubers are plentiful and start around $8. Since there’s an occupied unit above you, there can be noise transfer from above and your noise might transfer, as well. It's not unusual to hear footsteps and voices. The tenants know to be courteous and respectful of you – so we ask that you please do the same. The king sized bedroom is connected through to the living room. We suggest if you have kids to put them in the back bedroom so you have unfettered access, without risk of waking anyone, to the living room area. We have 5 children and no place to host extended family when they visit, so this home is more than a small side business for us – it’s also where our most treasured loved ones stay. I am fastidious about cleanliness and strive to create the perfect stay for every guest – an environment of comfort and convenience that may feel hotel-like – but I do not have the staff or resources to operate like a hotel. So please be considerate. Do not hang things on the walls or move furniture without permission. And please return everything to its proper place and put toys back together correctly, ie puzzles, games, etc. I personally work very hard to make sure your experience in our home is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible – as if you were our family too – so please, don’t take advantage of our hospitality. Just leave extra toilet paper for our next guests, and don’t take our bath towels with you. ☺
