Description
Welcome to The Garden Room, our studio mini-flat above the garage in our cottage grounds, loved by friends and family. It is small but cosy, with everything you need for a comfortable short stay for two people, or a longer stay for one. The setting is quiet and rural, yet there's a village shop and two pubs within 10 minutes walk, and just 15 minutes drive from J5 of the M3. Ideal for a weekend break, short stay, cycle stop, or writer's retreat. Please note it has sloping ceilings. The space The Garden Room sleeps two comfortably for a short stay, or one person for a longer stay (it feels too small for two for longer than a week or so). The stairs are steep, so do check the photos carefully to be sure you can manage them. The ceiling slopes, so there is restricted headroom at the sides, though the centre is a conventional height. It is not a large space, as I've said clearly, so please do not leave me feedback saying so! The bed is superking size and blissfully comfortable. I can provide some basics for your arrival ( tea, coffee) and can give you pointers to the best shopping options/ restaurants nearby. There is a small en-suite shower room with shower, electric water heaters over the kitchen and bathroom sinks, and a toilet. Towels are provided. Please see the pictures - there is a kitchen unit with a small sink and electric water heater, two hob rings, and a fridge & microwave, just enough for making breakfasts or simple meals for a short stay, but not enough space for normal home cooking . There are two pub/restaurants within walking distance. There is plenty of safe off-road parking on our driveway and a safe space to store your bike, behind a gate which is kept shut. For longer stays, you are welcome to use the washing machine and tumble drier in the workshop below, and also the rotary airer in the meadow to line dry laundry outdoors when the weather is good. We use non-allergenic detergents as standard. Guest access We have lots of outside space to enjoy, and to park your cars/bikes. You will need transport to get around, as there's no bus service here and the nearest station (Farnham) is 3 miles away. We are a short walk to the village centre though, with two pubs and a shop, so once here, you don't need to get in a car again until you leave. You're welcome to enjoy the meadow and seating area in the middle, with lovely views across fields. In the summer it's an amazing place from which to butterfly watch and listen to the grasshoppers. There's a table and chairs for dining or just sitting out, and I can provide a citronella candle to keep bugs away if you want to enjoy a summer evening without little visitors. Other things to note Please note this is part of a family home so we appreciate quiet visitors, as do our neighbours. This is a quiet rural area occupied by families, so the kind of guests that would most enjoy being here are those who value peace and quiet as much as we do.
