The house "Seilers Heim" was built in 1875, but parts of the house are older. The first owner was a skipper on his own Hardanger yacht. He sailed in Northern Norway in the saltmatured fish trade and with goods from Bergen. Since then, there has been a printing house, dairy, bakery, shop and various workshops on the property. The house has been newly renovated "from top to toe" from 2014 to 2016. We have tried to showcase the many different times and styles that characterize the house. Therefore, for example, we wanted to get the most out of the original and at the same time preserve elements from more recent times. Externally, the house has a late empire style. The restoration work is mainly done by ourselves - with traditional materials and techniques. On the first floor we have a living room with TV and fireplace, dining room, kitchen with dining table, bedroom, drying room, bathroom, toilet and shower. The second floor consists of a small loft living room with sofa and wood stove, 2 large and 1 small bedroom, all with double beds. The property is located in an area that is regulated for conservation. This means that the street environment in Kyrkjegata is "protected" by the municipality. In addition, the house is located by a pedestrian street, where there are few cars. Ørsta(vik) city center with shops, pedestrian street, restaurants and shopping center is only a few hundred meters away from the house. The house has a garden on all sides with a couple of seating areas and a charcoal grill. Since the house is close to the city center, there will be some traffic noise on weekends. Some think it can be annoying but we see it mostly as a nice and exotic feature. Guest access You will have access to the whole house and the whole garden with outhouse (woodshed). Other things to note At Seilers Heim there is an outhouse that has been a warehouse, home, shop and workshop. We have restored and decorated "The Shop" as a home. A student now lives here.
