The 'Petit Chateau' sits within its own land and is surrounded by high privacy railings and traditional gates to the front and hedging to the rear. Sweeping steps lead to the front entrance. Open the front doors into an airy portico where afternoon drinks can be had while overlooking the large heated outdoor pool. Enter the inner hallway off which to either side are two salons each with large comfortable sofas marble fire surrounds, original 19th century chandeliers and internet TV. Move into the rear of the Petit Chateau where the family bathroom can be found before entering into the large newly fitted modern kitchen equipped with two full size ovens, microwave/grill, coffee machine, fridge, freezer and induction hob. The kitchen dining room has room for twelve adults to sit comfortably at its antique oak table. The rear terrace is accessed from the kitchen and is overlooked by mountains and the Medieval Puilaurens Castle in the distance.The first floor chandeliered bedrooms are accessed via hand carved stone spiral stairs leading to the landing.Three of the bedrooms have antique double beds and wardrobes with large shuttered windows, the fourth bedroom has two antique double beds and wardrobe. The front bedrooms have French doors that lead out onto a terrace overlooking the pool. Laundry facilities are available off the first floor landing. Climb the stairs to the second floor where you will find two large apartments each with its double bed, double sofa bed, large antique wardrobe and kitchenette. The exposed oak beams create a special atmosphere and a relaxing environment to while away the evenings. Each bedroom and apartment has its own modern ensuite bathroom with heated towels rail, shower, WC, washbasin and vanity unit. All the rooms on the ground and first floor are fully airconditioned. The Petit Chateau has a basement accessed internally from the inner hallway and externally from the front; bicycles, windsurfers and skis can be stored here along with the provided sun loungers and outdoor bean bags. To the front is the large heated tiled swimming pool with its full width underwater steps. The pool is surrounded by Travertine stone tiles and is illuminated by underwater and garden lights at night time. There is a motorized security cover to protect anyone from unintentionally falling in. To the rear are the gardens are planted with specimen shrubs and is centred with a compressed stone dining area. A gate at the end of the garden leads to the forest behind the Petit Chateau. For night time entertaining the gardens are illuminated Parking is available both within the the gates and also outside. Lapradelle and its surroundings are renowned for mountain walking, cycling and canyoning in the summer months. The Mediterranean is forty miles away with its azure seas and sandy beaches. In the winter the ski slopes are only thirty minutes away and a little further the high slopes of Andorra are within easy reach. The World Heritage city of Carcassonne is to the North and Perpignan to the East. The valley from Lapradelle to the Mediterranean is guarded by many Cathar Castles and is renowned for its wineries. A light open top railway takes you along the valley stopping at each small town where the wines can be sampled before moving on to the next town. The medieval castle of Puilaurens that sits on its own mountain peak overlooking the village of Lapradelle can be walked to directly from the Petit Chateau and makes for awe inspiring views from the battlements to the high Pyrenees to the South and the Mediterranean to the East. A excellent restaurant is 100m from the gates of the Petit Chateau and a small bar on the other side of the small river running through the village provide nourishment and thirst quenching beverages. The river itself can be traversed with ease and is rarely more than knee deep in the summer, its waters are teeming with small fish and other wildlife. The banks make a wonderful place for an afternoon picnic The Petit Chateau is attended to by our off-site house keepers.
