Description

On the edge of one of only two villages in the Northumberland National Park, set in a valley amidst rolling moorland, this old stone cottage was renovated by an artist 100 years ago using wood paneling from a ship dismantled on the Tyne. The current owner teaches meditation retreats, mostly abroad, and uses the cottage as his retreat , the cottage is truly a property lost in time, ideal for for complete relaxation. check out by 10 am , check in 3pm The space Stone cottage with large garden back and front and small field with Elsdon Burn flowing past. Large south facing conservatory. In summer the conservatory heats the whole cottage and can be supplemented by the log burner in the living room and two electric radiators. air source heating has been recently installed and makes the cottage very cosy. The cottage is set up for quiet retreats by the host and his students. There is no TV or radio, but there is Wi Fi with fast broadband. One of the bedrooms has a futon on a low base to make space for yoga, meditation, etc. There is a high quality sofa bed in the living room. Bathroom with bath and electric shower. The cottage is beautiful inside but also rustic and lived in. It is not done up as a holiday home. The cottage is available at very reduced rates for personal retreats of at least 7 days out of season. This is a service the host provides at no personal income, just payment to the co host managing the cottage. Write for details , Please Note : due to the location of the cottage we can not offer guests with any mobility issues accommodation as there are steps up to the cottage from the road and stairs inside for the upper floor bedrooms . Guest access please note : NOT SUITABLE FOR GUESTS WITH MOBILITY ISSUES , All of the garden and the field opposite Other things to note Winter heating is air source central heating supplemented with a log burner in the sitting room and two electric heaters. Cooking is by a large dual fuel range cooker plus two electric rings at the side. there is also a microwave and electric kettle, plus freezer, fridge and washing machine. The large south facing conservatory heats the cottage well in summer and bright days in spring/autumn . No wheelchair access as 4 steps from street,the cottage is very rustic and in keeping with that has most of its original features , perfect for guests who would like quiet contemplation and to get away from daily busy life. PLEASE NOTE ,( this cottage is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems as it has steps up to the cottage ) just to avoid disappointment.
