Stunning views, walks all year round, fireplaces, firepit & BBQ, AGA, several sunny terraces. Perfect for groups of friends, families and parties. Kids love the treehouse and exploring everywhere. Increasing discounts available for stays of 5 nights and more. The space The Old Vicarage is our perfect family home, I wish I could be there all the time. It will ideally suit groups of friends and families looking for a scenic, relaxed get-away, an escape from the city, WFW (working from Wales), a walking holiday, or celebratory get-together. We've been renting it out for a very long time, and hundreds of families have fallen in love with the house and garden. The house has its quirks, but it oozes rustic charm and character. Family-friendly with toys, board games for kids to get their hands on and DVD and Smart TV capabilities. It is hard to imagine a more exciting place to stay for children (or pets!). Kids adore the woodland, tree house, and nooks and crannies of the garden (supervision required). There's strong WiFi for wfh and tv on demand. The Old Vicarage was originally built in the 1740's, with later additions thought to date from the 1850's, to serve as the home of the vicar of the nearby St Cenau's Church (just at the bottom of the hill in the hamlet of Llangenny). It is split over three floors. On the ground floor there is a cosy kitchen including an AGA as well as a large Britannia gas range for mass catering, with an adjoining 'back kitchen and laundry room for mess and utilities. Next to the kitchen there's a large, sun drenched dining room with French windows, opening onto the terrace and garden to bring the outside in during the Summer. Completing the the ground floor are two living rooms, each with large open fires; one smaller - the 'snug' - for TV sessions and the kids, one larger and more traditional - the 'red room' - for relaxing round the fire and reading one of the many books in the house's extensive library, which has been handed down the generations. There is also a downstairs bathroom with a power shower. Upstairs there are three large double bedrooms, one of which is en-suite and one of which has an adjoining children's room with two beds. There are also two additional (smaller) double rooms, a family bathroom and a WC. There are three further rooms in the eaves of the roof: two twin rooms, and a single bed in the landing area. Full details of all rooms are at the end of the description. If you need even more space, there's an option to 'glamp' in the Garden at an additional cost. Just let us know. Outside there are three acres of unique, gorgeous, rambling garden to explore and relax. It is definitely one of the best features of the house. To the front there is a sunny meadow on a slope overlooking the house and its outbuildings. To the back, there are numerous sunny terraces, three different tiers of lawn cut into the slope of the Sugar Loaf mountain and a semi wild woodland at the rear of the property. Main front lawn with terrace, deck chairs, outside dining table, chairs and benches, firepit, swing from very old beautiful oak tree. When the weather is good the front lawn, and the terraces to the south side of the house are an absolute sun trap Lower lawn leading down into woodland area - great for kids to explore and make dens, collect mistletoe and holly at Christmas (supervision required)! Follow the winding path up to the Upper Lawn - smaller with more privacy, great area for peace and quiet, gorgeous views. Treehouse (nestled under huge old yew tree - you won't be able to see it until you go looking for it!) - rope ladders leading up to its balcony (not suitable for young children unsupervised), and walkway.
