Separate entrance (via shared garden) separately lockable apartment (kitchen/living room, double bedroom + private bathroom) in Victorian farmhouse in a rural village between Leatherhead and Dorking, less than an hour from Wimbledon, central London & airports, 5 minutes from Denbies vineyard, 10 minutes from the M25, 15 minutes from Epsom races for the Derby. Hiking and mountain biking on Box Hill and in the Surrey Hills. Swimming pool, table tennis, bikes and pickleball court all available. The space This is a light, airy, kitchen/living room with double bedroom and private bathroom. Large garden with swimming pool, table tennis, bikes and pickleball court. Property is a converted Victorian farmhouse with considerable rustic charm. The property has been extensively modernised, windows double glazed, roofs insulated, central heating installed. But the building is originally 19th century, so if you are looking for super-modern accommodation this is not for you.. Guest access Guests have a separate entrance (via a shared garden) and private, lockable accommodation. There is a kitchen/living room, double bedroom and private bathroom. In the summer guests may make use of our garden, pickleball court and swimming pool (shared with our family and other guests). And we have bikes for guests to borrow. The vintage phone box shown in the pictures is genuine, but doesn't have a phone in it (it stores the pool equipment!) We don't supply breakfast or other meals but we supply a cooker, kettle with an assortment of teas and coffee, and a fridge and a microwave. Dominos, Rooster Kitchen (middle eastern) and Dorking Brasserie (Indian) will deliver as will other local restaurants using JustEat and UberEats. Mountain biking, road biking and hiking are all around you. We have mountain bikes you can borrow, also there are various maps and guides in your room. There is a table tennis table in the garden; bats and balls are in the wendy house, as are pickleball bats and balls. Please wear trainers on the pickleball court. Other things to note There are three local pubs, one cafe and a winery, whose opening hours have varied during lockdown. The Running Horses is more expensive and has pretensions to being a gastropub; the King William IV is more traditional, but serves very good pub grub (also has a beautiful garden). The Stepping Stones and Denbies Winery are a bit further. All have a good selection of real ales. There is also 51 DegreesNorth cafe, on the A24, which serves Asian fusion and British food seven days a week. The 8-mile Box Hill Hike comes through Mickleham. There is a visitor centre at the top of Box Hill. Cyclists can try the Olympic loop (part of the 2012 London Olympics road race) from the Running Horses, up Box Hill, through Headley and back via the A24. Juniper Hall Field Studies Centre is within walking distance. Denbies winery does tours and has a restaurant and delicatessen. Dorking is full of antique shops, and some good restaurants at all prices. Polesden Lacey at Great Bookham is a fine Edwardian stately home, owned by the National Trust, as is Clandon Park. Leatherhead has the Leatherhead Theatre, and Dorking the Dorking Halls (concert venue and cinema). Reigate has an excellent Everyman cinema. Guildford has the Yvonne Arnaud theatre and is full of clubs and pubs, as is Epsom. Epsom Racecourse and the RAC at Woodcote Park are 15 minutes by car. St Michael’s Church, opposite the Running Horses, is Church of England. The nearest Catholic church is the Church of Our Lady and St Peter, Leatherhead. Dorking has St Martin’s (Church of England and Methodist), Dorking United Reformed Church and New Life Church Dorking.
