One bedroom apartment Mickleham, near Dorking
Description
Separate entrance (via shared garden) separately lockable apartment (kitchen/living room, double bedroom + private bathroom) in Victorian farmhouse in a rural village between Leatherhead and Dorking, less than an hour from Wimbledon, central London & airports, 5 minutes from Denbies vineyard, 10 minutes from the M25, 15 minutes from Epsom races for the Derby. Hiking and mountain biking on Box Hill and in the Surrey Hills. The space This is a light, airy, kitchen/living room with double bedroom and private bathroom. Fully equipped with cooker, sink, table and chairs, 2TVs, DVD player, radio/CD player, kettle with assortment of teas and coffee, fridge, toaster, microwave, wardrobe, books, CDs, DVDs, bluetooth sound bar, wifi. If you are staying more than a week, your room will normally be cleaned on the Wednesday and your sheets changed at the weekend. Recently refurbished, this property, however, dates from the mid 19th century and most people love its charm. We did have one guest who said it was “dated”. You would expect that of a property that is over 150 years old. Not everything old is like a modern high-tech apartment in London or Dubai and, if the latter is what you’re expecting, this is not for you. Guest access Guests have a separate entrance (via a shared garden) and private, lockable accommodation. There is a kitchen/living room, double bedroom and private bathroom. In the summer guests may make use of our garden and swimming pool. And we have bikes for guests to borrow. The vintage phone box shown in the pictures is genuine, but doesn't have a phone in it (it stores the pool equipment!) We don't supply breakfast or other meals but we supply a cooker, kettle with an assortment of teas and coffee, and a fridge and a microwave. Dominos, Rooster Kitchen (middle Eastern) and Dorking Brasserie (Indian) will deliver as will other local restaurants using JustEat and UberEats. Other things to note There are three local pubs, whose opening hours have varied during lockdown. The Running Horses is more expensive and has pretensions to being a gastropub; the King William IV is more traditional, but serves very good pub grub (also has a beautiful garden). The Stepping Stones is further away but has stayed open in some form throughout lockdown. All have a good selection of real ales. There is also the 51 North cafe, on the A24, which serves Asian fusion and British food seven days a week. If you want to bring a dog, please let us know. We have a very friendly labrador.
