Welcome to historic Kaupang, we rent out the 1st floor. in the main house on the farm, old and cozy. I, Marit, run the farm with my husband, Rolf, there is grain production on the whole farm. Sometimes we bake bread for sale in the large old baking oven from the 1900s. Kaupang is located between Larvik and Sandefjord, a short way to the beach and nice hiking trails in the forest. The second floor of the house is used as a holiday apartment by our son, his wife and 2 small children. The space Kaupang, Norway's first city, is located on our land that is protected, just outside the kitchen door. Here was the Viking trading post from the year 800-950, a number of archaeological excavations have been conducted here and a number of major finds have been made from the Viking Age. Kaupang farm is located on the left with lovely sea view, short walking distance (5 min.) to idyllic Huestranda which is municipal free area and is a nice bathing place. In the woods there are nice hiking and exercise trails. Kaupangmuseet lies directly across the road and tells a little about the Viking history of the place, the museum has summer open. In the summer of 2020, the museum is open from 30. June - 30. August 10am-4pm, Monday closed, check vikingbyen.org for more info. Other things to note Nice if you park at my small greenhouse, i.e. on the left side of the barn bridge, where you do not stand in the way of our operations.
