A peaceful retreat in the heart of the Hampshire countryside. With access to miles of public footpath walks from the front door, the Saw Mill Cottage is a beautifully presented 1800's property. Set overlooking open fields and distant woodlands, this spacious and comfortable accommodation is just the place to relax, walk or use as a base for visiting the local area.One well behaved dog welcome. With 2 double and 2 singles beds,it is ideal for 4 adults and 2 children,as well as a cot for a baby. The space The Saw Mill Cottage was originally the home and workplace of the local saw smith. Situated in the heart of a working arable farm, you might see tractors harvesting the crops, sowing the seeds or baling hay. Recently refurbished and hosting guests for the first time in 2021, the cottage has everything you need to make your stay a real treat. With the main south facing entrance to the front, leading into a hall way, to the left stairs take you up to 2 bedrooms with a child safety gate at the top. First bedroom 2, the twin children's room which has an en-suite toilet. The single bed with a trundle bed underneath that enables a extra bed to be pulled out to make an extra 3rd single. This would enable sleeping for 7, please do let us know if you would like the trundle bed made up, well before arrival. The other single bed, in the same room, is set in a cozy recess reached by a small child's ladder. Back to the landing and into the king size bed room with en-suite shower and toilet. Two south facing velux windows overlook the fields to the front of the cottage and the bathroom on the far side with shower, wash basin and toilet. Back down stairs and into the spacious sitting room with wide screen tv and wood burner, 2 large sofas and a large arm chair. Windows overlook both aspects, the fields to the front and the enclosed garden to the rear. Three rooms lead from the sitting room, the back boot room which gives access to the back door for slipping off those muddy boots or collecting wood from the wood store or for drying down the dog. Then up a couple of small steps from the sitting room there is the well equipped modern kitchen with a door into the patio area and lastly the downstairs bedroom 1 off from the sitting room. From the boot room, there is the toilet bathroom and shower for bedroom 1. Guest access There is plenty of free parking outside the Saw Mill Cottage, one can also walk to the village shop or local pub 5 minutes away down the track into West Tytherley. There are miles of beautiful walks on marked public footpaths in the area, please don't walk down unmarked private tracks, please stick to the footpaths. Other things to note On any given day one might see the tractors going about their work, sowing seed, ploughing the soil or baling the hay or straw. During harvest time you may see the combine harvesters bringing in the years harvest - a real eye opener and something to keep the budding young farmers amused ! Wildlife may appear when you least expect it, an early morning grazing deer on the grass verge or a hoot from an owl in the trees early evening. There are also numerous walks in the area and on the doorstep the beautifully nature filled Bentley Wood, just a 10 minute stroll away down Standing Lane and across the marked public footpath between the fields. Here in the woods are locations for butterfly spotters and bird watchers alike. A map in the Cottage can show you the public footpaths walks in the area too.
