Description
Dairy Cottage was a former milking parlour. We stopped milking cows in 1992 and converted the building into a self catering holiday cottage. The cottage is situated between the Cathedral City of Winchester and the market towns of Alton and Petersfield. Nearby is the pretty town of Alresford where the River Arle flows into a lake constructed to provide fishing as well as a reservoir for the River Itchen navigation. There is a lovely short river walk here which we're happy to tell you about. The space Dairy Cottage is self catering and situated in a quiet farm yard. There is ample parking which is private and not visible from the road. We have a variety of hens which sometimes roam the premises but are always shut away in the evenings. We do sell free-range eggs so please don't hesitate to ask - £1.50 per half dozen. We have a friendly cat, Simba who loves to meet and greet guests but will keep his distance if dogs are present. Please refrain from feeding him but feel free to give him some attention, he loves people! Occasionally we have cows and calves staying in our fields. I'd be here all day if I mentioned the wild life that stops by. Guest access You have access to the whole of Dairy Cottage, the yard and outside table and chairs. There is also a small grass area near the hens pen which you can enter. The ground is uneven in places. Please close the metal gate after entering, thank you. Other things to note It is best to have your own transport for this property. The third bedroom is very small and we usually suggest it for a child to use. We are happy to accept one dog to stay but ask that it is not left unattended in the property whilst the owners go out.
