Burnbrae is a cosy and comfortable semi-detached cottage overlooking Loch Roag on the west side of the Isle of Lewis, just a short distance from the historic Callanish Stones and the spectacular beaches of Dalmor and Dalbeag. The cottage benefits from a very central location, ideal for exploring the surrounding area which has much to offer: dramatic landscapes, seascapes, sunsets, dark skies, the Northern lights and much more. Situated just 17 miles from Stornoway, the town offers a variety of shops, restaurants, An Lanntair - a performing arts centre and cultural venue, and Museum nan Eilean at Lews Castle, which boasts fabulous grounds and woodland walks. Visit the Ness Heritage Centre to learn all about the local history and discover the well-preserved Carloway Broch. Enjoy a relaxing stroll across Bosta Beach at Great Benera, or head to the pristine sandy beaches on the west coast including Uig Bay, where the famous 12th-century Lewis Chessmen were found. The area is a birdwatcher’s paradise, with an abundance of local wildlife to be seen. There are many opportunities to take part in a range of outdoor activities such as loch/sea angling and hill walking; discover Clisham, the highest mountain in the Western Isles, located just a short drive from Burnbrae. For a day the whole family will treasure, take a boat trip from Stornoway, Uig or Great Bernera to see who can spot the most whales and dolphins.
