Relax and unwind in a spacious and private suite located at the edge of Unison Arts Center’s sculpture garden (paths through woods and fields). A mile from New Paltz, close to Mohonk Preserve, this independent space features a king bed in the main space, a queen bed in a separate bedroom, and a small bathroom. There are views of the woods and our large yard, and a little patio. Note: There is no kitchen (just a toaster, microwave, coffee maker, and mini-fridge) and the bathroom is small. As a "suite" the space has two rooms, a main space with a bed, tables and chairs, and a small separate bedroom. This means the king bed space has less privacy, as those sleeping in the small room walk through it to get to the bathroom. There is a fold-out twin loveseat, and an additional padded cot is available upon request. Bedding, towels, and soap/shampoo are provided, as well as amenities like an iphone charger, a hair dryer, and coffee bar. There’s a 30” TV enabled with Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ and Amazon Prime for cozy evenings. The apartment is on the lower level of our house (ground level) and has its own entrance in front of the house, and another back door leading to the large back yard, small patio with a dining table and umbrella, and woods. It is attached to our house, and guests may occasionally hear footsteps or voices upstairs, but we are generally quiet. There is a partial kitchenette with a coffee maker with pods, a mini-fridge, microwave, and toaster. There is a dining table but no stove and no kitchen sink. Paper/plastic plates, cups, forks etc are provided, as well as coffee, tea, sugar and creamer. Our entire house has filtered water with a top quality carbon filter. The bathroom is quite small, and a very tall/large person may find the shower a bit small (see photos - shower ceiling is 6'2") We don't provide breakfast, but there are stores nearby with a wide variety of produce and groceries. The apartment is on the lower level of the house but has its own entrance. Because the space is attached to our house, we request "quiet hours" after 10 PM, with quiet voices. (We will do the same for you!) Just across the lawn is the entrance to Unison Arts Center’s sculpture walk, with both permanent and rotating exhibits of over 50 sculptures and a locally renowned Sustainability themed sculpture exhibit. You will be just a short drive from many towns and sights of the Hudson Valley: Minnewaska and Mohonk hiking, climbing, and swimming; Rosendale and New Paltz shopping, movies and cafes; Historic houses of Huguenot Street and Hyde Park; walkway over the Hudson, River to Ridge trail, orchards, farms, and even shopping malls. In Summer, we have an 18 foot round (3.5 ft deep) above ground pool available for use during daytime hours. It is shared with house residents, but guests can request a 1-hour slot per day to have it alone. You have your own entrance to the parking area and to the back yard, and you can come and go whenever you like, however, because the space is attached to our house, we request "quiet hours" after 10 PM, with more quiet voices. (We will do the same for you!) You may occasionally hear footsteps or voices upstairs, but we are generally quiet. We will give you instructions to let yourself in. We are available to answer any questions, concerns and provide local info etc. We are happy to connect through text or phone calls. Guests are also provided with a list of our favorite restaurants, hikes and attractions, and a loaner copy of “A Rock with a View” book that describes local hiking, rock scrambling, and biking trails in the Shawangunk mountains with lots of useful details. Winding mountain roads, woods and fields, orchards, hiking, rock climbing, summer lake swims, and winter adventures. Trailways bus from NYC to New Paltz is 90 minutes. We are a 5 minute drive from the bus station, and Uber/Lyft or local taxis are about $6 to ride to our house from the station. There is a Metro North train / Amtrak station in Poughkeepsie, 25 minutes away. The nearest airport is Stewart Newburgh (35 min), and New York City Airports (2 hours). Just 10 minutes from Thruway Exit 18, 1.5 hours from New York City by car or bus, you will be 1 mile from New Paltz (3 minutes by car, 20 minute walk) and 2 miles from the Mohonk Preserve, close to everything the Husdon Valley has to offer. Note: This space does not have a full kitchen and there is no kitchen sink or stove. There is a toaster, microwave, small fridge, and coffee maker.
