Cozy house by the sea, big garden and great view.

Get close to nature at Bessastaðir. Cozy old house with warm character, big garden, many bird species around. The view is magnificent all year round, amazing sunset and sunrise. The house is close to the sea and it is very nice to take walk to there and listen to the mysterious sound of the sea and seabirds. You are also free to take walk around our land, as long as you are not walking on our hay fields. The space The house was built 1937 and completely renewed 1984, it was again renewed the year 2016. The house has two stair's. One short leads you to the kitchen, dining room and bedroom, the other leads you downstairs to two bedrooms and living room with tv and sofas. On the ground floor is entrance, small hallway and bathroom. We want you to be careful around our animals and the wild animals, so they can live their normal life. We are training horses so when you see us on horseback or rounding the horses, please give us our space, specially when you are driving. Some birds are nesting in the garden and around, when the young birds are coming from the nests they often walk on the road. Then you have to be careful when you are driving, so they won't get killed by the car. Some of our fences have electricity, so be careful not to touch them. And if you open a gate somewhere, always close it again, because the gates and fences are to keep our animals on their right places. Guest access You have full access to the whole house except one room that is closed. You have full access to 500 square meter garden. By the farmers house is hot tub that you are welcome to use, but you have to contact us to turn the heat on. You are welcome to take walks around our 1200 hectares farmland and coastline, except not walk on our hay fields during harvesting time in spring and summer. If you want to have barbecue you can take out the barbecue grill, which is stored in the entrance. The gas is stored outside (of course you know that the grill is just supposed to be used outside, we just keep it inside when it is not in use). Outside there is also a barbecue for coals if you prefer to cook over coal fire. Outside there is also small fireplace for cozytime in the garden. Other things to note The water in Iceland is very clean. Usually you can drink right from the tap. Our cold water comes from a well 1 km to north east in our land. The hot water comes from a hot water supply 11 km in south from us. We are at the end of the line and the water is about 52 degrees on Celsius when it comes to our taps, but it is almost 100 degrees when it comes up from the earth at Reykir.
