Description

Located just off the M11 ideal for Cambridge, Duxford Air Museum and Saffron Walden Great for cyclists, walkers & anyone working in Cambridge, we are close to Royston/Audley End (9 miles) stations which have fast trains into London Kings Cross & Liverpool Street respectively but you will need a car to access the village The room has a comfortable double bed, wardrobe, Nespresso machine & kettle, Hairdryer, Iron w small board, Milk fridge & a selection of books. The space There are couple of good pubs in the village within walking distance and Royston has a number of good takeaway options - we can also give you some recommendations for pubs in the surrounding villages and Cambridge We are lucky to have 1 Michelin starred restaurant in Cambridge for those looking for fine dining: Midsomer House run by Daniel Clifford There is a lively food truck scene in Cambridge. Great options outside Stir Coffee at the weekend and the best cup of coffee from Espresso Library. Best gelato from Jacks gelato or make a special trip to Saffron Walden for Hill Street chocolatiers who make the very finest ice-creams Nearer Home Pizza by Bonne Fire Box from their Airstream at Langley Green outside the Bull pub on a Friday evening which can be pre-ordered via phone On the domestic front we have two cats, Jasper & Pandora who are mainly shy and will stay out of your way. Jasper is more adventurous and will take a warm lap where it is offered but Pandora is a ninja and rarely seen. Guest access There is a washer/tumble dryer in the utility room if laundry needs to be done. You will also find the iron/ironing board here On sunny days guests can sit out in the garden - there is a table and chairs, some deck chairs and a hammock swing in the summer months During your stay Lee & I are sociable but will take your lead and chat as much or as little as you need. We can tell you about the area, cycle routes and some walks if you are feeling energetic. We are happy to give you recommendations for places we have eaten as we love good food Other things to note Cycling to Cambridge is mainly through villages and along cycle paths around 13 miles and should take just over the hour. Saffron Walden is 9 miles away and good for cafes and a Saturday food market in the square. There are numerous agricultural shows through the summer and we are close to Wimpole Hall. There are some great places to visit within an hour from here - Cambridge, steeped in the academic tradition of the many colleges and museums. Freeport Designer Village Braintree for retail therapy & Markshall Arboretum at Coggeshall is a tranquil day out. Duxford Air Museum is 10 minutes away and Ely Cathedral is an inspiring/reflective space with one of the best tea rooms on the canal for chocolate afternoon tea - Peacocks Tearooms. Ely Aquafest is also a great day out and always the first Sunday in July Michelin starred dining at Midsomer House & Restaurant Twenty-Two - book early
