Description

Set in a remote and secluded part of the countryside. Absolutely divine, it is surrounded by countryside and nature. We have a luxurious designer kitchen and bathroom, cosy modern living room and two quiet bedrooms with open beams which can be set as a double and two singles or a king-size and double sleeping. Outside is a lovely spacious patio and garden. The space A traditional stone peak-district cottage on one level. Inside, its vaulted oak beamed ceilings create a sense of light, bright spaces. This is a modern, warm property set up to provide you with an upmarket and very comfortable stay. Here you can leave the car and step into beautiful walks right from the doorstep. The bedrooms are quiet with good quality beds and bedding which will help you have a peaceful night's sleep. One is a double room and the other can be set up as a king size bed or twins. The modern bathroom has both a large shower and a free standing bath so no-one has to compromise on their bathing preferences. The bespoke fitted kitchen has a great range of quality appliances e.g. Rangemaster induction hob and oven, a large Samsung fridge freezer. Foodies will be please to find extensive utensils, lots of pans, cookware and dining sets etc. The kitchen is open-plan with a dining area or you can use the patio for al fresco dining (also has a BBQ). The lounge is a cosy spot for curling up with some Netflix after a day's sightseeing or walking. Every window has a calming, picturesque views of greenery and scenery. The garden and large sunny patio with BBQ is a great social space. There are also assorted outdoor toys such a mini tractors for children. Note - there is an unfenced pond - young children must be supervised at all times. Off-street parking for 2 cars. (If you are a past guest, please note the hot tub is no longer available). For animal lovers it may be possible to come and meet our animals and cuddle a lamb - please ask when you arrive. You may be lucky enough to be visited by some British wildlife - hares, deer and bats. We currently have a pair of cheeky herons nesting who you may spot early in the morning in the pond by your patio attempting to catch some of our fish. Some of our small flock of hens will likely pay you a visit - a few were hand reared and they like people. Who comes to stay here? We get a mix of visitors e.g. small groups come to spend a weekend catching up - ex uni friends and doctors who did their training up here. Couples in need of quality time. People attending events. Families - kids love the lambs and Bill, our gentle elder (and very fat) male sheep with his own fan club. Parents visiting their offspring at the uni. Cyclists looking to do part of the 2014 Tour de France route which runs right by here ... ... It's an easy, social space for everyone. Walkers of all abilities and ambitions will find fabulous walks right from the front door. We have lots of guide books to help you explore the area; Some ideas to get you going ... Short easy walks take you into the picturesque village of Low Bradfield where you can stop for coffee and cake or something more robust at the Plough. Kids might paddle in the stream and feed the ducks. In summer there may be a cricket match. Or go through the woods up to the beautiful St Nicholas Church at High Bradfield and stop for a coffee or beer at the Old Horns pub. The views from this elevation are particularly excellent. Dale Dyke, Damflask and Agden reservoirs are easily accessible from the property. No car needed for any of these, and many other, walks. If you prefer more challenging 'proper' hikes then Ladybower, Bamford Edge, Win Hill etc lie only 15 minutes drive away. Derwent reservoir has a visitor center, refreshments, good parking and walking for every ability from flat well made cinder paths to hillier routes with truly stunning 360 views. This is where where the WW2 bouncing bomb was tested. The visitor centre has bikes for hire. The route around Derwent and Howden reservoirs makes for a safe and easy ride being largely closed to vehicles. Bakewell, Edale, Castleton, Buxton the Hope Valley and attractions such as Chatsworth House and the Blue John caverns are within short, scenic driving distances. 'Blue John' is a mineral only found locally in Castleton. Several mines are open to the public, our favourite is Speedwell Cavern where you tour the mines by underground boat - quite an experience. Cannon Hall Farm (as seen on Channel 5) is one of the biggest and best adventure playgrounds and animal experience venues in the north of England. They have all kinds of animals and petting areas. Everyone has a great day out here and it's a firm favorite with our family. Guest access Guests have use of the garden, patio area. Other things to note There are 6 + 6 steps with handrail and a small step into the bedrooms We are a farm and have sheep, geese and chickens separate from the usable areas. We have CCTV around the property for the purposes of security. There is an unfenced pond in the garden, young children must be supervised at all times.
