Nestled in woodland, 400m from the River Orwell.

Description

A house, nestled in a wooded valley, running down to the River Orwell. Its the perfect spot for a romantic getaway, walking, bird watching, cycling, and wild swimming. Set in an acre of garden, it’s a tranquil retreat, perfect for those who enjoy the rustle of trees and birdsong. Sparkling rooms aside, a highlight will be the hearty breakfast of home-made bread, newly laid eggs…see our reviews. A pretty, thatched, river view pub, serving meals, is within walking distance, through the woods. The space Once part of the Orwell Park Estate, Laundry Cottage is described as a ‘fantastically relaxed, warm and friendly place to stay’. Originally with a stream running through the sitting room, it’s where estate staff laundered sheets for the “big house”, now Orwell Park School. Room 2, with a king-size bed and orthopedic mattress has a contemporary feel and looks out to the side gardens, surrounding woods and observatory. The en-suite facilities include a roll-top bath and large, separate, walk-in shower. It's perfect for a fragrant soak and a bit of pampering. You'll be in the quietest part of the house. It offers a comfortable, private, and peaceful getaway. Depending on the season, breakfast is served in or overlooking the garden where the air smells like every seaside daydream and the pace of life simply drifts by. You’re welcome to feast on muesli, Greek yoghurt and honey, fresh fruit salad, homemade bread, preserves, and freshly laid eggs from our neighbour’s hens. There’ll be a pot of aromatic, fresh coffee, or tea to wrap up proceedings. There is no rush, either. We want you to take as much time as you like to enjoy this important, first meal of the day. Laundry Cottage holds a 5* Food Hygiene Certificate issued by Suffolk County Council. We let four rooms in the house. Guest access You’re welcome to use the garden, lounge on the large, outside sofas, and enjoy a meal or night cap in the conservatory . I want you to feel at home. Please do not eat in your room. If you’d like to bring food in, have a takeaway delivered or use the gas BBQ { small charge applies} I’ll happily lay a table and provide napkins and glassware. During your stay I'll give you plenty of space and privacy but will always be available to give advice on places to visit, doorstep walks, road trips and restaurant/pub recommendations. I hope you'll enjoy a positively lovely stay. Other things to note If nature and wildlife excite you; we have regular visits from a herd of fallow deer, badgers, and hedgehogs. Very often at night we drift off to the sound of tawny owls in conversation with each other. There is great foraging to be had - in summer you’ll find sea beet, alexanders and samphire, in autumn there is an abundance of sweet chestnuts, blackberries, wild plums, parasol mushrooms, and the occasional giant puffball too.
