Spend your days exploring Colorado's Peak to Peak Scenic Byway and your nights in comfort at Birdwood Lodge, located on 7.5 acres adjacent to the Roosevelt National Forest. Your suite has a private bath and a private deck. The wet bar includes a microwave, small fridge, toaster and coffee maker. There are dishes and utensils and it's perfect for continental breakfasts or heating up frozen or prepared meals but there is no stove or oven for cooking. The suite has private entry from the sliding glass door on the deck and I respect my guests privacy. There are patio chairs and a dining table with an umbrella. A guest left the grill unattended which started a fire so unfortunately it is no longer available. There are no phones in the rooms but you are welcome to use mine. There is wi-fi Internet access. I live quietly and ask that my guests do so as well. Located adjacent to the Roosevelt National Forest, the Lodge is on the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway (Hwy 119) which is Colorado’s oldest, established in 1918. This 55-mile-long route provides matchless views of the Continental Divide and its timbered approaches. The string of popular attractions along the way – Rocky Mountain National Park, Golden Gate Canyon State Park, Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests, the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area, James Peak Wilderness Area and Eldora Ski Resort – combine recreation with nature preservation. The gravel roads criss-crossing the main highway lead to high-country lakes, trailheads, campgrounds, the Moffat Tunnel’s east portal, and ghost towns at Hesse and Apex. There is RTD service to Nederland but no further public transportation. Arrangements to pick up guests in Nederland can be made and cycling trips along the Peak to Peak can also be arranged.
