Summer house on the island Kythira

In the beautiful island of Kythira (Cerigo), in the medieval traditional village of Pitsinades lies the summer house to rent “Pulani”. The house is a detached home with a big yard, which includes bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom. (A.M.A. 1626, as required per Greek law) The space The house was build about 100 years ago and was renovated in 2007 to its current form. It was originally used as a residence as well as a winepress. In the living room one can still see the "pulani", the hole where the stum was poured from the "lanos", the space where the grapes were pressed. It is situated at the east side of the village near the churches of Panagia Tsigkouriotissa and Saint Athanasios. • Bedroom The bedroom is the biggest room of the house. It's made of stone according to traditional architecture and it is a dome (white stone arch) with a skylight to allow natural light to enter the room. The room has a double bed and a trifoliate closet. There is also a single sofa-bed for the accommodation of a fifth guest. • Living room The living room was the winepress in the original use of the house. In its original arrangement the room contained a "lano" (winepress) which was defined by a dwarf wall of about 1 meter at the right side of the room. In the center of the room you can still see the "pulani". The room in made of stone. The room is air-conditioned and contains one double sofa-bed while a TV-set and a small book collection are available. • Kitchen The kitchen is the most recent addition to the house. It was built approximately 10 years ago and has a wooden roof with tiles. The kitchen is fully equipped with kitchenware and appliances. • Yard The yard is spacious, partially covered by a trellis with creeper plants which cast their shadow so as to keep it cool during the day. • In general The house also contains a washing machine as well as an iron with an iron board. For guests with car, a parking space has been reserved. Guest access The whole house is at your disposal. Other things to note The bookcase in the living room is filled with books you can take. Take any book you like, it's yours. Also, do you have a book that you finished reading while on your vacation, if you don't want to carry it around on your trip back home, leave it in the bookcase.
