Double room in a renovated old farmhouse with a shared fully equipped kitchen. In the kitchen there is also a TV with a DVD player and there is a free Wi-Fi in the house. Two shared bathrooms with a shower. In the house are 3 other rooms. The house is located 21 km from Varmahlid, by road 752, Skagafjardarvegur, under the mountain Hamraheiði and the beautiful summit Mælifellshnjúkur. There are many options for walks and hikes in the farmland where our sheep and horses graze; up along our little creeks to the hills of Hamraheiði, in the fields or along the riverbanks of Svartá. A few kilometres away the popular hiking trail to the summit Mælifellshnjúkur (1138 m) starts. From its peak there is an incredible view on a bright day. You can experience beautiful sunsets and bright nights in summer, northern lights and cosy atmosphere in winter. Breakfast is not included but you can order breakfast or dinner with the hosts and enjoy conversation with them about the nature, culture or litterature. A horse rental that offers shorter or longer tours is just nearby, and two companies offer whitewater rafting on the glacial rivers. Also in the neighbourhood: an artists workshop and a goat farm - great to visit! Around 1 hour drive to Skagafjordur’s ski resort in Tindastoll. A cosy place in the countryside!
