Description
A beautiful, recently converted barn which was originally the Groom's Cottage. Newly renovated in 2018 this one bed, one bath cottage is set in an idyllic rural location with breath-taking views and direct access across the owners' fields to a footpath which leads either down to the famously picturesque village of Ashford-in-the-Water or uphill to the drama of Monsal Head. Separately available is The Coach House, next door, also new and sleeping 4 people in equal style. The space A beautiful, recently converted, barn which was originally the Groom’s Cottage. Set in an idyllic rural location with breath-taking views and direct access across the owners' fields to a footpath which leads either down to the famously picturesque village of Ashford-in-the-Water or uphill to the drama of Monsal Head, home of the Monsal Trail, and the villages of Little and Great Longstone. To make the most of the far-reaching countryside views the Groom’s Cottage is in an upside-down configuration. Accessed by an antique spiral staircase, the open plan kitchen/dining and sitting room take over the entire top floor with three large south-facing roof windows opening fully and flooding the room with light. There is a modern, fitted kitchen, a dining table, comfortable seating, exposed ceiling beams and a log burner for the cooler evenings. The barn is stocked with many lovely books about the various attractions in the immediate area. Downstairs, you enter from your own private garden to the hallway which has coat hanging and boot storage. On this floor is the cosy bedrooms with a sash window opening onto the garden (the bed is zip-lock and therefore adaptable as either two large single beds or a huge super-king bed). The bed is modern, pocket sprung and comfortable and the linen is all white Egyptian cotton. The bathroom has gorgeous glazed ceramic tiles, there is a bath and shower over it. Groom’s Cottage has its own gravelled parking area at the bottom of the garden. The garden is laid to grass with a gravel path to the front door and a planting bed along one wall which is home to mature shrubs. The small south-facing lawn enjoys the dappled shade of a huge Horse Chestnut tree in the afternoons. There is a lovely painted garden bench with views over the fields for sundowners. Wood Burning Stove TV with Freeview and Netflix. Wifi and there is 4G in the area. Books and Board Games. A stash of current local tourist information leaflets. Fluffy cotton Bath and Hand Towel for each guest. Hair dryer 100% Egyptian Cotton Bedlinen in white Beds with pocket sprung mattresses. Down Duvets and Pillows Wooden coat hangers Kitchen: Washing up liquid, Dishcloth, Pan scrubber, Washing up brush, Tea Towels Fridge Microwave An iron and ironing board. No pets. Spiral Staircase Private off-street parking for two cars. Access to a secure area for bike storage (please let us know at the time of booking) Direct access to footpath network. Guest access Guests have private use of the entire cottage and a small garden at the front of the cottage is also theirs to enjoy. There is allocated off-street parking outside the garden. Access to the national footpath network is a short stroll through the owners field neighbouring the cottage. Other things to note Access Groom’s Cottage is at the end of a private gravel driveway and has its own gravelled parking area for two cars. Your cottage has it's own front door. There is a key safe for late arrivals. There are motion-sensor lanterns to light the step and gravel path at night. Unfortunately, because of our large windows on the first floor, children under the age of 12 cannot be accommodated for Health and Safety reasons and all our guests are requested to take care at all times. There is a beautiful antique cast iron spiral staircase in the house which may be challenging to those with limited mobility.
