Description
The farmhouse was built between 1795 and 1800 by the ancestors of the owner. We renovated it in 2017 and added 600 square feet to the original structure. The space combines the charm of the old with the convenience of the new. We know you will love this relaxing, quiet country setting with views over a lovely meadow to the south, and Mount Crosby to the north. The space When you step inside the front door of the farmhouse, you will feel like you are going back in time. Wide pine board walls in the entry, open beamed bedroom ceilings. and aged pine flooring all create a simple, rustic country atmosphere. At the same time, the new part of the farmhouse gives you all the amenities you expect-new bathrooms and kitchen, efficient heating system, abundant insulation and no winter drafts! Our ancestors would be thrilled to know that we have taken advantage of our perfect southern exposure. We are heating the farmhouse with the power of the sun as will be evident by the array of solar panels which grace the back field. Guest access The farmhouse is a self-contained dwelling which is only used as a guest house. The fireplace in the downstairs bedroom is a non-working fireplace at present. Other things to note Although this complex of buildings was a large working farm in the past, there are no farm animals or farming activities here at present. Three buildings in the complex are occupied. The former stable is rented on an annual basis. The ell, which is the building that connects the stable to the farmhouse, is another airbnb. We live across the barnyard in a renovated sheep barn. Unoccupied buildings on the property are the cow barn, the chicken coop and the carriage shed.
