Description
Our self-contained, well equipped Annexe is converted from cattle sheds & a horse engine room. It's light & spacious and adjoins the timber framed barn where we live. We began the conversion work in 1995. The property sits in 5.5 acres of garden, surrounded by farmland. We are 5 miles north of the historic town of Framlingham & 16 miles from Suffolk's Heritage Coast. It's a peaceful, tranquil, relaxing, quiet getaway. Suit bird watchers, walkers, cyclists, writers, artists, nature lovers . The space Our whole property comprises an 18th century timber framed barn, converted cattle rearing sheds, stables & outbuildings. They nestle in 5.5 acres of gardens, ponds, a meadow & woods. Situated down the end of a long drive, our bungalow style, self-contained annexe is light & spacious with plenty of room for two people, all at ground floor level. It's light & airy in Summer, warm & cosy in Winter. The hallway & well equipped kitchen/diner are open plan. A utility room leads off from the hallway, containing a sink, washing machine, drying rack, iron & board and microwave oven. Bikes & outdoor equipment can be stored in here. The large sitting room, leading off the kitchen area, has double doors, which can be left open, or closed for a cosier feel. It contains TV with Chromecast dongle for internet viewing from your device; DVD, CD & Radio with speakers which also connect into the kitchen ceiling. The stereo system is Bluetooth enabled, so music can also be played from your device. The kitchen has sink, dishwasher, coffee machine, kettle, toaster, fridge, freezer, oven & hob with extractor over. The front faces south, with east & west aspects to the sides. The bedroom (with UK king size bed) & bathroom are down a short corridor. Oil-fired central heating throughout & a wood burning stove in the sitting room. We have an endless supply of logs for guests to use. There is plenty of storage & hanging space. The bedroom door, through to the barn, is locked from both sides. Then there are two further rooms, with doors, between the annexe & the main barn, which connects in an 'L' shape. For guests' extra privacy, translucent vertical blinds hang on the kitchen & bedroom French doors. Free WiFi internet access included. Guest access We leave guests to self check in, unless they specifically ask to be met & shown around. Parking is close to their own separate front door, which is not in sight of the main barn. The door will be open & the key inside. The sitting room, kitchen/diner & bedroom all have doors which open onto the garden. The annexe gets very warm in summer due to all the glazing. There are two sitting out areas for guests' use only, plus the main courtyard which is overlooked by the barn. Guests are welcome to use a disposable bbq next to the building only. Please feel free to wander around the grounds, up into the meadow & woods (there are spare wellies) or sit by the pond - we like visitors to enjoy our space. You can also pick fresh herbs from the garden & greenhouse. Other things to note From 2024 the nightly price is £90 + a £10 cleaning fee. I'm happy to consider all booking requests, so please message me with your dates. Pre-crawling babies are welcome, but not once they are on the move. We are not suitable for children, as there are too many hazards & tempting things within reach. Extra space for a travel cot can be provided. Check in from 2pm - check out by 11am, but I can be flexible about this - just ask. This is a peaceful, tranquil & relaxing spot, but do remember we are in the heart of rural Suffolk farming countryside. At most times of the year you must expect the sounds of farm machinery in the neighbouring fields.
