The space Set in an idyllic location in Wheathampstead, a quiet village on the river Ver situated just between Saint Albans and Harpenden, this once was a farm hands cottage, then a wartime working farm for Italian POWs, (many of whom stayed on after the war to create ice-cream empires in Luton!), then an ARP warden's office connected to the farm's bomb shelter, and now converted by one of the owners (a professional interior stylist) into a beautiful single bedroom apartment with ensuite shower, toilet and basin. The property is surrounded by country views and yet is less that 45 minutes from the attractions of central London via St Albans and Harpenden or alternatively via fast trains at Hatfield that link to the Victoria or Piccadilly tube networks. By car, you are ten minutes from either the A1, M1 or M25. details The accommodation comprises one large living room/ kitchen, a 43 inch 4K smart TV with freeview Netflix, DVD player, a comfortable leather armchair & sofa, wood burning stove, dining table and benches, vinyl record player with several great albums included (but you’re welcome to be bring your your own). Kitchen is brand new with dishwasher and washing machine. Lavazza coffee machine. Double bedroom, double bed 4’ 6” chest of drawers, clothes rail and ensuite shower room. The annexe is separate but directly adjacent to the main 19th century farmhouse which is in turn surrounded by 2 1/2 acres of ex-farmland. Its a non working farm. Fast 5G internet. Large garden front, 2 fields plenty of places to sit. Gas or Webber BBQ. Own private garden for guests. (Dog safe). Welcome basket bread, jam, granola, biscuits, tea, coffee & milk. Things to do The rural surroundings are popular for walking, golfing, riding, exploring, and of course drinking. And speaking of tasty, at the end of our road is one of the most raved-about Italian restaurants in south east England - L'Olivo. St Albans is a vibrant and well-connected town which has all the major brands represented plus the unique history of having been the Roman capital of Britain. In fact the Brits were finally defeated by Caesar on Dyke lane, our road. The Odyssey cinema was saved by investment from film fans from conversion into flats to the biggest independent cinema in Europe. facilities If you’re staying here on business the house has Wi-Fi at fast rates thanks to a 5G connection. Guest access Private access to annexe. Shared use of front garden which is fenced off with stock fencing so safe for dogs. Patio with table & chairs just for guests and small grassed garden. All ground floor no steps or stairs. Other things to note We have a friendly male dog. We work from home so we around in our farm house if guests need anything. We only allow 1 friendly dog for extra £20 for whole stay. I have a dog bed and bowls. Also I can provide a small single easy up bed or a baby travel cot (Space cot Alpha) on request.
