Beautiful country house - ideal for entertaining and family gatherings. 6 bedrooms 4 bathrooms historic listed house with large well maintained gardens near Devizes. The Grange is an impressive 17th century house set in 2 acres of well maintained gardens with far reaching views towards Salisbury Plain. The space It is situated just outside the historic market town of Devizes. The world famous heritage sites of Stonehenge, Avebury and Silbury Hill are close by. Bath, Salisbury and Longleat are half an hour away. Oxford and the Cotswolds are easy day trips. The house was built in the 1640s with later additions. Prince Rupert is rumoured to have stayed during the Civil War and a helmet from that period was found in the garden a few years ago. The three story house is great for entertaining having a 30ft double reception room with 2 efficient wood-burners and separate dining room with open fireplace that can seat at least 12. The gardens are a particular feature with croquet lawn, grass tennis court, area for badminton and open sided barn housing table tennis. There is also a walled garden featuring pear and apple trees with a small avenue of vines along with both winter and summer raspberry bushes. There are two goldfish ponds set within checkerboard cobbles. The village of Worton has an attractive historic pub and an extensive network of footpaths. There are trout fishing lakes within 10 mins walk. There is also horse riding at the nearby village of Lavington.
