The space Cozy modern mountain cabin in the Los Padres National Forest just 45 minutes from Bakersfield and 75 minutes from the San Fernando Valley. Pine Mountain is one of Southern California's best-kept secrets--a small alpine village with a four-season climate. We have light snow in the Winter, spectacular wildflowers in Spring, and gorgeous Fall colors. It's a wonderful getaway—and yet so close! Our two-story home is located on a quiet street at 5771 feet. Lovely pine ceilings throughout the cabin contribute to the warm ambience. The 1000 sq. ft. interior is furnished in a modern style with a leather sofa and some cool abstract art on the walls. The living room has a wood stove and 55" smart HDTV with direct satellite & Blu Ray DVD. A skylight in the living room brings in lots of light. Our cabin comfortably accommodates 4 people with 2 queen size beds. The master bedroom (queen bed) is separate from the downstairs and reached via a spiral staircase leading up to French doors. The master bathroom adjoins the bedroom and has a skylight over the double length tiled shower. A second bedroom has a queen size murphy bed. Air conditioning and heat are provided in the master bedroom and living room through a mini-split. Upper and lower decks offer lovely views of Mt. Pinos and the San Emigdio range. Relax on the sunny decks or in the Adirondack chair near the pond surrounded by pine trees. Plan to do some bbq-ing--it is so pleasant to do some grilling on the upper deck bbq and dine outdoors. Mt. Pinos has the best view of the stars in So. California—star parties are common whenever there is a new moon. In addition, since we are in the Padres National Forest - wildlife (deer, raccoons, bobcat, fox, bunnies, squirrels, quail, stellar and scrub jays) abounds. Rare California Condor preserve located on Cerro Noroeste Road (main road through town) approximately 15 miles west. We have an extraordinary number of sunny days—it is rare to have a gloomy day. Since SNOW may be present during cooler months be sure to carry chains. Our roads are well-maintained but the CHP is strict about safety when snow is possible. Sledding awaits at Mt. Pinos just 15-20 minutes away, GREAT for cross-country skiing and snow-play destination! The local Village Commercial Center is 2 miles away and offers access to a market, gift shops, several restaurants, ice cream store, laundromat and a spa. There are lots of hiking trails nearby as well as a fishing pond! Mount Abel and Mt. Pinos are nearby offering cross country skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer. Fishing is available at Fern's Lake which is just a mile away. Horseback riding is available in the summer. Or simply relax on the deck and enjoy the fresh mountain air-- you won't want to leave! It is very peaceful to spend a few days here-- and also comfortable. We LOVE being here with time to read, hike, relax.....did I mention slowing down and enjoying life? BREATHE! Guest access Guest passes to club facilities are provided (e.g. tennis courts, golf course, pool, club lounge, cafe, game room). Wireless internet is accessible throughout the cabin at 25 mbps-- enough to stream but not as fast as the city due to our rural location. Hot tub is NOT available due to water restrictions enforced by property owners association Other things to note No parties in the cabin-- only the guests approved on the reservation are allowed on the property due to insurance issues. No pets. NO smoking! Arrival required before 8 PM. All trash must be taken with you or disposed of at the Transfer Site (be sure to take guest pass) at 16143 Aleutian Dr, (All the way to the end of the road, past the horses, at the top of the hill). Trash outside attracts wildlife (e.g., bears, raccoons, cougars) which creates a significant problem
