Description

The space A pretty cottage, nestled in the hills of Tyrone, in a designated area of 'outstanding natural beauty'. Hawthorn Cottage is situated on the edge of the little village of Greencastle, 3-4 min stroll from the local supermarket, GreenRoom Cafe and Pizzeria and award winning Eddies pub. Originally a blacksmith's cottage, it has recently been renovated and has every modern amenity you would hope for! A haven "away from it all", yet within a short distance of historical sites, local attractions, and surrounded by scenic drives. A 20-30 minute drive and you can visit the award winning Ulster American Folk Park,The Gortin Glens Forest Park, Dava Forest Mountainbiking Trails, Newtonstewart and Omagh Golf Clubs, Beaghmore Stone Circle, The Ogham Standing Stone and local Wedge Tomb,The Old Wellbrook Beetling Mill or just explore miles of wild countryside. There is horse-riding just a short walk away, bicycles to ride, golf courses and a public swimming pool and fitness suite only 30 mins away in Omagh or Cookstown Leisure Centres. So plenty of activities to keep you busy. One day trip can include The Giant's Causeway, Bushmills- the oldest distillery in the world, the Carrigarede Rope Bridge, Dunluce Castle and the Glens of Antrim. Other day trips could be made to The old walled city of Derry, The lakes of Fermanagh, The vibrant city of Belfast or the beautiful county Donegal with its unspoilt beaches, bays and headlands. The cottage is very comfortable and warm. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and wash stand. The 2nd bedroom has 2 single beds plus an extra bed. All linens and towels provided. The sitting room has a double sofa bed and open fire, TV-DVD player and plenty of books and games. The kitchen has a dishwasher, fridge freezer, large cooker and big family dining table. The utility room has a washing machine, dryer, and microwave and ironing facilities. The bathroom is spacious and has a roll-top bath, heated towel rail and a separate power-shower. There is a garden to the rear containing garden furniture and fruit trees. You can collect your own eggs for breakfast from our friendly hens! We hope you can wind your way to our cottage door where a very warm welcome awaits you.. Take left for Greencastle, opposite the Northstone entry. Drive for approx 3 and a half miles along this road until you come to Greencastle Crossroads. There is Eddies Pub on the left hand side and The Costcutter Shop on the right. Drive straight through the Crossroads and take the first lane on the left hand side - there is a stone Hydrangea bed at the entrance. Hawthorn cottage is at the end of the lane.Well done! From Cookstown: take the A505 for Omagh and drive approx 13 miles. Take left onto the B46 ( Vivo Shop on left hand side of the road) for Greencastle. Travel approx 4 miles until you arrive at Greencastle Crossroads - The Costcutter Shop and Eddies Bar will be down on your left hand side. Turn right at the Crossroads and then take the first lane on your left - there is a stone Hydrangea bed at the entrance, and Hawthorn Cottage is at the end of the lane. Well done! There is a Bus Depot in Omagh, just 12 miles from Hawthorn Cottage with buses to and from Belfast, Derry and Dublin every hour or so during the day. We can arrange to have you picked up at the Bus Depot if you have no car! The journey from the airports is very scenic and you will enjoy your trip from Belfast, Derry or Dublin. We are 50 mins from Derry, 80 minutes from Belfast Airports and about 2 and a half hours from Dublin Airport
