The space The houseboat sits on a private island, accessible only by your included electric boat — easy to operate and a joy from the very first crossing. No shared spaces, no neighbours on the island. Up to 4 guests sleep in the houseboat itself (master and second bedroom). For stays with 5 or 6 guests, we open the separate guest cottage — a standalone building with its own bedroom, bathroom, shower, toilet, fridge and freezer. Important: the guest cottage is only available for groups of 5+ guests. It cannot be used as extra space by smaller parties. Additional fee: when the guest cottage is in use, an extra-guest surcharge applies per night (5th and 6th guest). This is added automatically by Airbnb to your booking and covers the additional linen, towels and the more extensive cleaning. Other things to note 🏝️ Arrival & groceries Do your grocery shopping before check-in — it's an island :-) Supermarkets and restaurants are within walking distance of the harbour. 🅿️ Parking The car park is privately owned. Each exit costs €10. Free long-term parking is available at the fire station nearby (check Maps). ⚡ Electricity — important! Heating is electric. Do NOT run the heating together with the dryer/dishwasher/washing machine, or shower at the same time. This will trip the main fuse. 🔥 Fireplace Firewood is available at the Hubo hardware store, a short walk away. ☕ Coffee Nespresso machine available — don't forget to bring your own pods. 🚿 Hot water Boiler system — after long showers, allow a few minutes to reheat. ❄️ Winter Tap water is not suitable for drinking during winter. ⛵ The boat Always check the battery before heading out — engine OFF when testing! There's no charging point on the lake. For longer trips (Baambrugge, Utrecht, Amsterdam, Woerden): hire a boat at the local sailing school — highly recommended. ⚠️ Cushions & windows Do NOT place cushions against the large terrace windows on the sunny side. Heat build-up can cause the glass to crack — this has happened before. 🔇 Noise Water carries sound enormously. Please be mindful of neighbours, especially in the evenings. 🌧️ When it rains Please bring the cushions inside and strip the bedding if you can. 🌿 Gardener Every 2 weeks the gardener comes to mow the lawn. You may need to pick him up from the harbour. Late morning, so sleep in. Enjoy your stay! 🌅
