Gorgeous, 3bd/3bath private log home near dorset with front porch and 2 rear decks (one with hot tub!) with beautiful gardens, river and creeks, forest and meadows. 3 proper bedrooms all w/ queen sized beds and full bathrooms + Add'l loft bed. NOTE - due to quarantine, to protect my housekeeper and the locals, I am limiting groups to very small family pods with a minimum of 4 nights. No large groups of friends till this virus is done, sorry. The front door opens to a grand, high ceilinged, light filled great room, with its generous living room with 2 couches, wood stove, dining area and well appointed kitchen are all in one space. So whomever’s cooking still gets to enjoy the views, the light, the woodstove crackling and the company of the other guests. There’s the Master bedroom and bath that opens off the great room, upstairs to a 2nd bedroom and full bathroom and extra sleeping loft/library. down in the basement is the tv den, and off that is bedroom 3, the music room (basement is fully exposed in rear, so there's 2 windows in the basement bedroom, you won't feel like you're in a basement!) Note: min 3 night bookings on holiday weekends! The house is full of great books, CDs and a DVD/VHS collection for your use. (There’s no cable or satellite hookup, but there is wifi if you’d like to stream your favorite shows on your laptop, and I can point you in the direction of sports bars if there’s a game you’d like to watch). There’s yoga mats and props for those who wish to practice on their vacation. Additionally, I’m a former professional chef - so Memorial Day til Columbus Day if my schedule allows, I can provide full B&B service for an additional charge, and stock the fridge with food and snacks and make you one truly excellent meal per day (your choice for when and what). This is my real life home, (though I've cleared all drawers and surfaces for you) and it is decidedly not child-proofed and I mostly will not be available to put my breakables and valuables out of reach. The woodstove is exposed to curious hands, the upstairs loft is open with just a small railing separating. So it may not be the best choice for visitors with very small children. I can recommend other great choices nearby if you message me. I live half of the year in New Orleans, so outside of email and phone calls if you need something, from Oct 1 - May 20th I won't be personally available to greet you. There's contacts for the housekeeper and a handyman and some emergencies (though of course, contact me first if you just have a question). Summer and early Fall I will likely be staying in a summer shack in the back acres of the property across the river, and can be as available or not as you'd like. I do need to take care of the garden some if you're there for more than a few days in the summer. You will reap the benefits of any seasonal bounty in the way of fresh cut flowers, herbs and vegetables! This corner of southern Vermont is a locavore’s paradise. Left out the driveway and a mile or two up on the left there's a small farm store (Wayward Goose Farms), with basics including local meat, eggs, raw milk, ice cream, cheese and snacks. A little further down the road there's an award winning cheese farm, Consider Bardwell. There’s great farmer’s markets all year round, stock up on grain fed, organic eggs, meat and poultry, other excellent local cheeses and seasonal vegetables and fruits. There’s apple and berry picking in season all round as well. I recommend Hicks Orchard in Granville NY (And there's a ton of berries on the rail trail and apples on my 3 apple trees in season). For restaurants, shopping, activities outside the house -Saratoga Springs is an hour away, Dorset is 20 minutes distance, Manchester is 30 minutes away. Stratton/Bromley ski areas are about 50 minutes drive. All appliances - dishwasher, hot tub, washer/dryer. in addition - wifi, national free long distance calling via land line (your cell likely won't work there), and a few sets of x-country skis (mostly ranging from Men's 8 1/2 to men's 10 1/2. sorry - big footed family!) I’m a professional musician and writer. There’s no piano in the house, though there likely will be by mid summer. If an artist, musician or writer would like to come up solo for a creative retreat, message me privately and we’ll work something out. It’s a great place to create. I’ll even hide the internet router so you’re not tempted to distraction. The walls are all wood, everything you sing sounds great in there. Please no smoking inside the house. No pets. Be kind to my books, records, vintage kitchen implements etc.
