Spend a weekend in The Barn: a modern designed free-standing building with guest studio apartment above, designed to look like a barn; the studio has views at tree level of a quiet, old neighborhood; one block from Long Island Sound; on a section of the historic old Boston Post Road. There is lots of natural light coming from a large window with a lovely view of a privet hedge on our property overlooking a park like property across the street. The studio has an open plan, living area, sleeping area, kitchen, under a cathedral ceiling. Forced air heat, air conditioning, track lighting, ceiling fan. Sleeps two in a king-sized bed; free WIFI, ROKU smart TV, gas cooktop, microwave, counter-top oven, under-counter refrigerator, dishwasher, and sink. Eating, reading, dressing or just sitting looking out of a wonderful window at the trees and sky, the space offers many areas. The bathroom has a European style shower which is in the same space as the sink and toilet. The shower is under the sloping roof. FYI the shower head may need to be adjusted directly down to accommodate people over 6'. Our space is top notch, cleaned thoroughly after each guest and by far one of the nicest airbnb's you'll experience. The entire inside space. Our driveway has a designated parking space at the far end of the driveway on the right side. There is a bench outside the barn in a nice sunny spot to sit and plan your day. (great spot for am coffee) We live on the property, and are available if needed. The Barn is situated in a lovely residential area, on the old Boston Post Road, with historic houses. Five minutes by car or bike trail to a large state park, with over two miles of pristine beach on Long Island Sound, picnicking fields, and broad sunny marshland; a birding paradise. Several miles of running & bicycling routes. Five minutes by car, or bike, to Town, with superior restaurants with outside seating, a variety of boutiques, a small state of the art movie theater, and a renowned independent bookseller. Nearby you will find Clinton Crossings Outlets, Chamard Winery and restaurant, picturesque Guilford with expansive green, Mystic Seaport Museum, Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, with Café Flo (seasonal), seasonal ferry across the Ct River, and many quaint New England towns along the way. Convenient to Yale by train or car. The town is right off I-95, served by Metro-North trains, via Shoreline East. Ubers are available. An easy 1 mile walk or bike to town from the Barn. The wonderful Greenway biking, running, walking trail is a short walk, ride or drive from the Barn. There will be a minimum fee of $300.00 to cover damage to our property.
