Casa de las Abuelas (House of the Grandmothers) is a custom designed adobe guest house within walking distance of the historic Taos Plaza, full of natural light, beautiful landscaping, and tasteful furnishings. Comfortably fits 2 adults and 2 children. 35 minutes from the famous Ski Valley. Our house is the ideal base for exploring Taos galleries & museums, enjoying the many music and art festivals or just getting away from it all! A relaxing haven for all seasons.. The space The Guest House is made from adobe and was designed by local architect, D.W. Hoffmann. It is within walking distance to the historic Taos Plaza and the town's restaurants and shopping. House has one private bedroom and a sleeping nook with a double sized mattress. The nook is perfect for reading or sleeping - ideal for children or for just relaxing and looking out the window! Kitchen is fully equipped with anything you might need to prepare glorious meals. Dine al fresco under the outdoor ramada or inside at the dining table that seats 6 comfortably. Enjoy the use of the outdoor fire pit when local conditions permit and the indoor fireplace on chilly nights. The Taos Ski Valley is world famous. The Rio Grande river has great rafting. The hiking is glorious. Many summer art and music activities. Some of our favorite things to do: - Taos Farmer’s Market on Saturdays from 8-1:00. It is open from May to late October. - River Rafting (or inner tubing) down the Rio Grande is always fun. - Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Spa - full-service spa with private outdoor pools, detoxifying mud pool, hiking and biking trails. - Thursday Nights on the Plaza - Live music and dancing during the summer months - The Taos Center for the Arts (TCA) hosts film screenings, plays, art shows that are Taos unique. Check out their website to see what is happening during your visit. - Visit the Taos Pueblo or the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge -Tour the Earthship community to see sustainable living in action Guest access You will have access to the entire guest house including the private courtyard. There is a shared fire pit with the main house that you are welcome to use (provided the town of Taos is currently allowing outdoor fires!)
