The generous gardens to three sides are south-west facing and can be bathed in glorious sunshine all day long. This cosy 180 year old stone built character cottage has been recently renovated and furnished to a very high standard with a traditional look, but with excellent modern conveniences and accessories. The luxurious and comfortable self-catering accommodation sleeps up to 6 people. The space Please note: * We do not accommodate dogs or other pets due to allergy. * If your group includes young children please see 'other details to note', below, indicating some areas requiring extra safety precautions. * 20% discount for stays of 7 nights and longer. The accommodation comprises: • Three bedrooms for 5 or 6 people - the master with king size bed, second with double bed, and the third has a double bed in an alcove which can sleep two if one of you doesn’t mind a bit of a slither to get out of bed. The third bedroom has the advantage of French doors onto a spacious and pretty balcony seating area overlooking the garden, whilst bedrooms one and two have bedside units and lamps, and lovely views to the front. Each bedroom has a wardrobe with hanging rail, shelf and drawer, a dressing table, mirror, seat, hairdryer, and USB plug charging sockets. • An upstairs shower room with spacious modern shower cubicle including a second ‘rainfall’ shower head, wash basin, lavatory, heated towel rail, lighted demisting mirror and shaver point. • A downstairs bathroom with shower over bath, wash basin, lavatory, heated towel rail and lighted demisting mirror. • A cosy sitting room with feature stone walls, a real open fireplace, comfortable sofas and armchairs, TV with Chromecast, radio/CD player, games and books, USB plug charging sockets. • A fully equipped kitchen including a range cooker with 5 burner gas hob, electric grill and two electric ovens, Tassimo pod coffee machine, integrated dishwasher, integrated washing machine, integrated fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, kettle, large cafetiere, pots & pans, USB plug charging sockets. • A conservatory dining room with a sideboard and an extendable dining table to seat up to 8 people. The iron, ironing board and clothes drying maiden are also stored here. Also included in the price: Broadband Internet and Wi-fi, household linen (bedding, towels, etc.), power and full gas central heating, logs and kindling for one good fire in sitting room fireplace (local shops sell firewood), use of garden furniture and barbecue. Just to the rear of Valentine Cottage, behind a hedge, is a small free-of-charge public car park which you can walk to in moments through the cottage garden or up the lane. There is plenty of free on-road parking just behind the car park. Next to the car park there is a large well-kept playing field with some play equipment for children. Less than ten minutes’ stroll away is the village centre with several dining pubs, a fine-dining restaurant with a cocktail bar, an Italian restaurant, a general grocery store/off-licence, a bakery and a greengrocer. A wide range of fresh meat products is available in the local shops - ideal for a barbecue. There is also a pharmacy, doctors’ surgery, bookstore, several cafes, fish and chip shop, hair salon and an ATM cash point. What more could you need? Well, even more thriving pubs and farm shops are but a short distance away. The Peak District National Park is very well known for its fabulous tourist attractions and outdoor activities, too numerous to list here. For example, Tideswell is surrounded by networks of beautiful walks over hills and dales, many cycle routes including lots of family friendly traffic-free routes such as the stunning Monsal Trail, which can be accessed within 3 miles, and rock formations for a challenging climb. Nearby is the historic spa town of Buxton with its renowned nightlife, music and theatre venues, Bakewell with its craft shops and famous puddings, Chatsworth House and Castleton caves. Golf, fishing, gliding, watersports and historic steam railways are also in the area. Many Derbyshire villages and towns have active programs of annual events and festivals, such as the ancient tradition of Well Dressing, village fairs, musical entertainment, more modern food festivals and farmers markets. All the details can be found online or from local Visitor Information centres. This really is the perfect location for your holiday or short break, whether you want to be active or just relax when exploring the Derbyshire peaks and dales. Guest access The whole property Other things to note We would like to inform you of some hazards to be aware of especially if you have young children with you. The stairs are quite open with virtually no balustrade, and the two front bedroom pairs of windows are very low down and open out completely with no window restrainers. It would be advisable to keep the bedroom windows locked if a child might be in the rooms unsupervised, to avoid them falling through the window opening. Please refer to the photographs. The garden is elevated with some concrete steps and some parts of its perimeter have no fence and are about 6 feet higher than the adjacent lane. This means that younger children would require close supervision in the garden at all times. There are no facilities or special safeguards for children in the cottage. However, there is a large playing field at the rear of the cottage - great for ball games - and it has some play equipment for children too.
